Driveway Resurfacing The driveway is your home’s real welcome mat, rolling out to meet you, your family, friends and neighbours. A good driveway improves the look of your property, and increases its value. If yours is looking a little worse for wear, you may have thought about ripping it up, relaying or re-paving it. What you may not have considered is resurfacing. And you’re not the only one. Many homeowners don’t know that ripping up your old driveway and starting again from scratch is not the only option. Far from it.
How do you know if your driveway is suitable for resurfacing?
Not all driveways can be resurfaced. If the substrate is in good to reasonable condition then there’s a good chance yours can be done. But it depends on a number of factors.

What if I’ve got cracks in my driveway?
Cracks can be a problem. It depends on how deep they are. Fine cracks can be assessed and potentially filled with epoxy. Note: cracks can be ground and filled but it cannot be guaranteed that they will not reappear if further movement occurs.

What’s the process?
What exactly is resurfacing and how does it work? It’s not as as complicated might think. Dulux Avista, every job complicated as as youyou might think. At At Avista, every resurfacing resurfacing job includes includes 4 basic steps: 4 basic steps:
1. Preparation and cleaning of surface
Preparation is all about creating an even surface. We might grind off an existing coating, and if cracks are present, grind and fill with an epoxy and grind off the excess. Pressure cleaning is then required to remove the excess dust. If there is no existing coating an acid wash and pressure clean will be required to clean and key the surface.
2. Applying the base coat
We apply a thin base coat over the squeegee over the surface. concrete and screed it level.
3. Applying the resurfacing compound
We then spray a resurfacing compound: a single colour to create a slip resistant, textured finish, depending on the environment and steepness of the surface. An additional colour can be added to create a flecked appearance for added dimension and texture. If stencil is required, this is applied after the base coat has dried.
4. Sealing of surface
Finally, we seal the surface with 2 coats of Dulux Avista sealer in matt or semi-gloss. of Avista sealer in matt or semi-gloss.
