End of the Line

There are many different solutions to address our changing climate. Some actions you can take for the Earth are to march in the Earth Day parade and attend the Earth Day Celebration at Rotary Park this Sat., April 23. The most recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (“IPCC”) report shows that we have no time to lose in taking significant action to limit global warming.

Marching in the Earth Day parade and talking to your friends, family and even strangers, can be very effective tools for addressing climate change. We want our elected officials to know how important it is to us to keep the average temperature rise as low as possible. We care about our farmers and want to do our best to avoid more years of drought. We care about the health of our forests and want to avoid devastating wildfires as much as possible. We care about clean air for ourselves and our children and want to avoid air pollution as much as possible. Tell people why you care about our changing climate.

The Earth Day Parade/March will gather in front of the train station at 10:10 a.m. The march starts at 10:30 a.m. Come dressed as your favorite climate solution and/or bring a sign. We will march from the train station to Rotary Park. If you can, walk or bike to the parade/march.

After the parade, please stay for the fabulous events at Rotary Park (11 a.m. – 3 p.m.) There will be live music (Pete Giuliani Band), kids’ activities, food, electric vehicle ride & drive, see the new electric school bus, Southern Ute Bear Dancers, speakers, and booths of many local environmental organizations who will discuss their climate solutions.

Celebrate Earth Day by talking about climate solutions and why working on climate change matters to you. – Gail Harriss, Durango
