Despite packing a 5.2-liter 553 horsepower V10 amidships, for some people the Gallardo will always be a ‘baby’ Lamborghini, tagging along in the shadow of its 640 horsepower big brother Murcielago. The lack of the signature scissors-style doors contributes to this perception. Swiss tuner BF performance has solved the Gallardo identity crisis by giving the so-called ‘baby’ a makeover that definitely can be rated M –for mature audiences or at least those seeking more Murcielago style looks and performance. BF performance calls it the GT 600 and can offer it either as a coupe or convertible Spyder version that it calls the GT 600 Roadster. There is no confusion surrounding the 600 part of its nomenclature, as like Lamborghini, the number indicates the amount of horsepower on tap. The company’s engineers are tight-lipped about revealing the tuning tricks they employed to get the additional horsepower along with a boost in torque from 398 to 424-lb-ft. They are not shy, however, when it comes to proclaiming that the power surge coupled with a weight reduction of nearly 95 pounds, propelled the GT 600 about 0.6 seconds a lap faster around Germany’s Sachsenring race track than a Murcielago LP640-4 SV. A lightweight carbon fiber body kit is responsible for the weight loss as well as the aerodynamic slipperiness and road holding downforce necessary for high-speed handling confidence. Besides enhancing the Gallardo’s on track per24

formance image compared to the Murcielago, it also solves any identity crisis when they are parked next to one another. The aggressive front splitter mimics that of the ultra exotic Reventon version of the Murcielago. Side skirts, air intakes, and a prominent, bi-pedestal supported rear wing complete the racer oriented, and racier, body mods. But wait; there is one more available exterior modification that will surely solve any identity crisis as to whether the Gallardo is a full-fledged adult Lamborghini. BF performance can add what it calls the “wing doors…that are strictly limited to Lamborghini models with twelve-cylinder engines.” And why not? Having 600 horsepower should be enough to warrant the iconic doors no matter how many cylinders are used to produce that amount of power. The interior also reflects the racing dynamic theme of the exterior and engine modifications. Carbon fiber (available in your color preference) accents the steering wheel, door handles, ventilation grids and even the control surrounds. For the hardcore track enthusiast, BF performance can also add racing bucket seats along with five-point belts, a roll-over cage and a carbon ceramic brake system. This Monster is really quite powerful, highly maneuverable with solid handling. Its 618 cc engine produces 60 horsepower and 53.3 footpounds of torque.
