hen it comes to succession planning, Lamborghini’s Huracán set the gold standard. Following the Gallardo—a model that perfectly blended its Italian flair with German engineering prowess, following the Volkswagen Group’s acquisition—it became a supercar icon. Its exceptional 5.2-liter V10 engine provided a sublime soundtrack to accompany its razor-sharp looks and refined handling, and most importantly rewrote Lamborghini’s record books for sales. The Huracán became a benchmark for the brand, making its successor’s task even more daunting.
Enter the new Temerario, the latest addition to Lamborghini’s storied lineup. While it sacrifices two cylinders compared to the naturally aspirated Huracán, its new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, paired with three electric motors, delivers over 900 horsepower and a top speed of 213 mph. This advanced powertrain not only o ers incredible performance but also enhances practicality—an added bonus for this entry-level Lamborghini. The smaller engine frees up much-needed luggage space, making the Temerario more versatile without compromising its supercar essence. Together with the flagship Revuelto and the ever-popular Urus Super SUV, the Temerario completes Lamborghini’s electrified 2025 lineup, proving that the brand can embrace a high-tech future without losing its soul.
In our DRIVE section, road tester Gabriel Vega Cortés shares his dramatic start to the New Year. As wildfires ravaged Los Angeles, forcing him to evacuate his home, he found a welcome distraction in the delivery of Hummer’s EV SUV. Gabriel recounts how this chunky electric vehicle o ered him a momentary escape from the dreadful scenes, and a chance to reflect on the possibilities of EVs o the road, as well as on the highway.
In the LIVE section, we sit down with former Daytona 500 Champion Trevor Bayne, now the head professional driver and ambassador at Tennessee’s Flatrock Motorclub. Trevor discusses his career transition and the exciting opportunities at this state-of-the-art facility. Finally, our SELL section brings you a curated selection of the finest exotic and luxury cars, alongside some of the rarest classic automobiles available on the market today.
Happy reading, and as always, drive safely!

CHARGING BULL
As it charges at full speed into an exciting new era, the historic Lamborghini brand has introduced yet another stunning plug-in hybrid supercar.
The new Temerario, which translates as ‘fierce and courageous’ and gets its name from a fighting bull that dates back to 1875, is the latest hybrid model in Lamborghini’s stampede of new designs.
WORDS : Tyler Rampersaud
LLamborghini celebrated its 60th anniversary year in 2023, which represented an important turning point for the legendary supercar manufacturer.
After discontinuing the celebrated Aventador as its flagship V12 supercar, Lamborghini introduced the Revuelto. With the Revuelto came a new 6.5-liter V12 engine, which benefits from a plug-in hybrid system to develop a massive total of 1,001 horsepower.
After the Revuelto, the Urus SE, a plug-in hybrid version of Lamborghini’s popular Super SUV, was introduced. It combines luxury, practicality, high performance, and cutting-edge hybrid technology. However, Lamborghini wasn’t done transforming its lineup yet, as the highly successful Huracán, its best-selling model of all time, has also been discontinued along with its naturally aspirated V10 powertrain.
The new Temerario replaces the Huracán and opens a new chapter for Lamborghini’s entrylevel supercar legacy. In lieu of the V10, an engine that will be sorely missed by enthusiasts for its robust power and unique sound, the Temerario is its second plug-in hybrid supercar, or as Lamborghini calls it, HPEV (High-Performance Electrified Vehicle).
The new Temerario replaces the Huracán and opens a new chapter for Lamborghini’s entrylevel supercar legacy.
Mounted amidships in the Temerario is a new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a hybrid system that develops a total of 907 horsepower. Along with 538 lb/ft of torque from the engine alone, the Temerario sets a very high bar for the performance standards of the new entry-level Fighting Bull supercar. The power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. As a result, the Temerario will get from 0-60 in less than 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 213 mph.
But immense hybrid power isn’t the only front on which the new Temerario demonstrates excellent engineering. It also features an aluminum frame and body, front and rear double wishbone suspension that uses Lamborghini Magneride damping, and carbon ceramic brakes with 10 pistons at the front and 4 pistons at the rear.
The Temerario adopts a new design language that retains Lamborghini’s signature angular, futuristic look while taking inspiration from the Revuelto’s new features. Boasting a longer wheelbase than its predecessor, and a smaller V8 engine than the Huracán’s V10, the Temerario benefits from a more comfortable, more luxurious interior with new “comfort seats.”

THE TEMERARIO ADOPTS A NEW DESIGN LANGUAGE THAT RETAINS LAMBORGHINI’S SIGNATURE ANGULAR, FUTURISTIC LOOK WHILE TAKING INSPIRATION FROM THE REVUELTO’S NEW FEATURES.
FOR THOSE SEEKING EVEN MORE PERFORMANCE, LAMBORGHINI HAS INTRODUCED THE “ALLEGGERITA” PACKAGE, INTENDED FOR DRIVERS WHO WANT TO USE IT ON THE RACE TRACK.
For those seeking even more performance from the Temerario than the new supercar already o ers, Lamborghini has introduced the new “Alleggerita” package, intended for drivers who want to use it on the race track. The package reduces the weight of the new supercar by over 55 pounds while implementing carbon fiber wheels and further optimizing the Temerario’s aerodynamics, increasing downforce by 67 percent and increasing aerodynamic e ciency by 62 percent.
The hybrid powertrain not only adds electrified power to the new Temerario, but also provides Lamborghini the opportunity to improve its engineering excellence throughout. The engine musters an impressive 789 horsepower alone, and is paired with three electric motors. Thanks to the hybrid system, its functional integration lowered the aluminum spaceframe’s constructional complexity, reducing the number of components in the same area as the Huracán by over 50 percent, and decreasing the total weld bead length compared to the Huracán by over 80 percent.
On the bottom line, the Temerario’s spaceframe benefits from a 20 percent increase in torsional sti ness compared to the Huracán, which along with a 43.4:56.6 front to rear weight distribution ratio, contributes to truly excellent performance. As it charges at full speed into an exciting new era, the historic Lamborghini brand has introduced yet another plug-in hybrid supercar, proving yet again that electrification can help set exciting new standards for high performance.
ON THE BOTTOM LINE, THE TEMERARIO’S SPACEFRAME BENEFITS FROM A 20 PERCENT INCREASE IN TORSIONAL STIFFNESS COMPARED TO THE HURACÁN.

BUILT FOR CALIFORNIA
Intended as a contemporary take on the chic, pleasure-seeking Italian lifestyle of the 1950s and 60s, Ferrari’s 2025 Roma Spider is also at home in an American environment that harks back to a previous model name, the California.
WORDS : Gabriel Vega Cortés
Ferrari retired the California in 2017, when the convertible twodoor four-seater that wore its name exited production. The Portofino followed that same year, its title chosen to conjure images of the Italian Riviera. It introduced significant structural and mechanical improvements, eventually doubling as the foundation upon which Ferrari built the gorgeous Roma Coupe. However, after driving the Portofino’s successor, the Roma Spider, through Los Angeles, it’s clear that its Californian spirit transcends the name.
You’d be shocked at how little of an e ect chopping the roof off a car can have on its personality. Take an Aston Martin DB12 or a Porsche 911 Turbo S, morph them into Volante and Cabriolet form, and the use case stays the same. Just stash some sunscreen in the glove box, and you’re good to go. This isn’t the case when it comes to the Roma Spider. Its transition from hard top to convertible completely changes how you drive it and, more importantly, where.
Take the Roma Coupe, marketed heavily by Ferrari after the spirit of La Dolce Vita. Its low, sloping roofline and 1960s-inspired curves conjure images of pulling up to red-carpet premieres or extravagant parties hidden deep within the city. It captures the essence of the Bond e ect that’s driven Aston sales
for decades. By owning one, you might inherit some of the traits of the brooding, mysterious character that would drive one on the big screen.
In contrast, although similarly positioned as La Nuova Dolce Vita, the Roma Spider trades late-night escapades for sunny days on the West Coast. It’s mechanically identical to the Coupe, drawing power from the same 612-horsepower, 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8. Still, it encourages a far more relaxed attitude behind the wheel. Where the Coupe is an athletic GT, encouraging you to dance up a canyon road with easily manageable slides, the Spider wants you to take things down a notch.
Its dry weight figure rises from 3,245 pounds for the Coupe to the 3,430-lb Spider. An extra 185 lb is not an inconsiderable sum, but it hardly matters in this car’s case. If performance is what you’re after, its 3.4-second sprint to 62 mph should still be plenty, as will its 199 mph top speed. This is still a front-engine, rear-drive Ferrari, and its dual-clutch automatic moves through gears rapidly. You can even light the rears if you want. Instead, you’ll want to put the top down, engage the integrated automatic wind deflector, and enjoy its comfortable magnetic ride suspension on a cruise up the coast. As far as grand touring
The Roma Spider o ers the performance you’d expect from a Prancing Horse with a more relaxed demeanor.
goes, it has the Coupe beat in terms of versatility. Its roof stows in 13.5 seconds at up to 37 mph, bringing you closer to the note emanating from its quad exhaust tips. Its interior is the best of any current production Prancing Horse, sporting a separate central infotainment screen that significantly increases its usability. The cabin isolation is excellent despite, in my tester’s case, trading its predecessor’s metal folding roof for a denim one.
Ferrari went to great lengths to ensure that the rear headrests flow seamlessly into the redesigned rear deck and its attention to detail pays dividends. The Roma Spider is gorgeous in its own right. However, this tester’s Verde Masoni Opaco exterior, black wheels, and massive fender shields lean more into sporty territory than an elegant cruiser. Still, the Spider retains the same sloping roofline that makes the Coupe a stunner.
This tester starts at $272,970 but, thanks to a hefty options list, reaches an as-tested price of $435,809. The Ferrari Roma Spider’s persona breaks away from the Coupe in welcomed ways. It’s still a gorgeous two-seater that makes fantastic V8 noises and is as quick as you’d want from a Ferrari. While its weight gains a ect its handling, it doesn’t stop it from being an excellent grand tourer, the ideal car to enjoy the West Coast sunshine. After all, its influence over the Prancing Horse dates back to the sensational 250 GT California Spyder of the 1950s.

WILL ROOKIE F1 RACERS SINK OR SWIM?
WORDS : Charles Bradley
The 2025 Formula 1 World Championship marks a seismic shift in driver lineups, resulting in the youngest starting grid for years. While the spotlight is on Lewis Hamilton’s blockbuster move from Mercedes to Ferrari, the arrival of six rookies— the most since 2001—adds another compelling storyline at the opposite end of the experience spectrum. Let’s look at each of them…
ISACK HADJAR, RACING BULLS
If you’ve enjoyed Yuki Tsunoda’s animated team radio moments with Red Bull’s F1 Junior Team in recent years, just wait until you hear this guy! The 20-year-old Frenchman, hailing from an Algerian background, has had a breakthrough year in Formula 2, finishing a close runner-up after an impressive campaign that exceeded expectations.
Christian Horner quaintly describes Hadjar as an “emotional communicator,” referencing his spirited outbursts, and his personality seems tailor-made for stardom on ‘Drive to Survive’. When given the opportunity to test Red Bull’s F1 cars, he’s shown impressive adaptability, handling the significant jump in power with alacrity. With Liam Lawson facing a tough situation at the senior team, a strong rookie season could position him nicely.
KIMI ANTONELLI, MERCEDES
Undoubtedly, the biggest headline going into the 2025 season is Lewis Hamilton’s departure from Mercedes and a move to Ferrari. After this bombshell move was announced, you could almost hear jaws from around the globe drop and hit the floor. After over a decade with Mercedes, Hamilton will be paired up with Charles Leclerc while the tifosi cheer him on. This, however, leaves an open spot next to George Russell at Mercedes. Alongside the experienced Russell, Mercedes has a chance to bring in fresh talent and have a solid team for years to come.
FILLING SEVEN-TIME WORLD CHAMPION LEWIS
SHOES AT MERCEDES IS ANDREA KIMI
Filling seven-time champion Hamilton’s shoes at Mercedes is Andrea Kimi Antonelli, an 18-year-old Italian from Bologna. He’s been a part of its junior team since 2019, and tore his way through the open-wheel ladder after starring in karting from the age of seven. The son of a sportscar racer, he endured a tough rookie season in F2 last year but scored two race wins.
The first Italian F1 driver in three seasons made his race weekend debut in practice at Monza last year, setting the fastest lap before crashing heavily on the very next lap. On the upside, making his debut with Mercedes means Antonelli has topline equipment from the start of his F1 career. On the downside, the pressure on him is immense, and the faith that Toto Wolff has shown in him is admirable—but a major gamble.
JACK DOOHAN, ALPINE
LIAM LAWSON, RED BULL RACING
A borderline rookie, as he’s already started 11 grands prix, the 22-year-old Kiwi will embark on his first full season with top team Red Bull Racing as team-mate to its fourtime World Champion Max Verstappen. While Antonelli’s task alongside George Russell will be tough, Lawson’s assignment versus Verstappen will be like climbing Everest… without oxygen or thermals! Verstappen is not only Red Bull’s darling, but he also has a reputation for coping with a car that has super-loose handling—one that basically killed Sergio Perez’s F1 career last year.
In replacing Perez, Lawson jumps ahead of Red Bull’s other junior driver Yuki Tsunoda. It would be no surprise if Tsunoda gets parachuted in mid-season if Verstappen destroys Lawson, like he did with Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon. If Lawson isn’t to become another victim of Max’s hitlist, he needs to learn this car fast and then unleash some incredible pace to just keep up. He has proven himself to be a mighty tough competitor, and he’s going to need every ounce of that.
OLIVER BEARMAN, HAAS
Thanks to Carlos Sainz’s emergency appendix surgery, Britain’s Bearman became Ferrari’s first F1 debutant since 1972 and its youngest-ever driver at last year’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Then 18, he did a stout job to finish seventh, becoming the sport’s youngest points scorer. At the grand old age of 19, he joins Haas in 2025 having made two further cameos replacing a banned Kevin Magnussen in Baku, where he added to his points tally in 10th, and again in Brazil, when KMag fell sick, where he finished a career-worst 12th.
This is a nice opportunity for him to cement his place at the top level, where he’s proved he can compete. His teammate is Esteban Ocon, already a grand prix winner, but with something to prove after a stormy ending at Alpine.
GABRIEL BORTOLETO, SAUBER
Ocon was booted out of Alpine a race early to allow Doohan to contest the season-closing Abu Dhabi GP, where he did a decent job. The son of motorcycle racing great Mick, the 20-year-old Australian has had a solid but unspectacular junior career, switching from the Red Bull Junior Team to Alpine’s just at the right time to take advantage of this major opportunity.
But team management already looks unconvinced by his potential, and has hedged its bets by signing Argentina’s Franco Colapinto, who impressed with Williams at the end of last year, as reserve driver. The carrot in this scenario is matching the pace of established F1 ace Gasly; the stick will be Colapinto, who has amassed a decent sponsorship portfolio, hovering on the sidelines. If Doohan doesn’t taste the carrot, the stick will likely turn into an axe…
With the legendary achievements of Emerson Fittipaldi, Nelson Piquet and Ayrton Senna, F1 doesn’t feel the same without a Brazilian racer. While Rubens Barrichello and Felipe Massa carried the torch, 20-year-old Bortoleto just might be its next big star.
Backed by Fernando Alonso, Bortoleto has achieved an impressive feat: winning back-to-back F3 and F2 titles on his first attempt at each series. The challenge, however, lies in starting his F1 journey with the grid’s weakest team. But even Alonso began his career with Minardi, proving that humble beginnings can lead to greatness. The silver lining? Audi’s takeover of the team in 2026. For now, this season will be about learning the ropes of Formula 1, staying resilient despite racing at the back of the pack, and preparing for a brighter future when the stakes rise.
Our intrepid road tester feared he might lose everything to the L.A. wildfires, but with his home declared safe, a GMC Hummer EV SUV o ered him an escape to the desert to detach from the tragedy that had unfolded around him.
SEARCHING FOR SOLACE IN HUMMER’S EV SUV
WORDS : Gabriel Vega Cortés
II can’t look away. Every swipe brings forth new footage of homes on fire and decimated communities across Los Angeles. Doom scrolling eats my days as I scan for evacuation notices and new information. Parting the blinds to look outside makes things worse. I live just south of Altadena, the city most a ected by the Eaton fire, and my window provides an unobstructed view of the glowing flames as they consume the San Gabriel Mountains.
It’s Thursday, January 9th, as this natural disaster enters its third day, powered by unprecedentedly potent Santa Ana winds. We’ve just returned to our house after evacuating on Tuesday night. As an Asthmatic, I made the call to flee long before any notice from the fire department. Two days on, the smoky air is starting to clear as a thin layer of ash covers the inside of our home. A dense coating blankets the exterior. The sun is no longer obstructed by smoke clouds, with streaks of light and blue sky piercing through. Fallen trees and branches partially block the road home, but ultimately, the structure is intact.
We got lucky. Firefighters were able to stop the advancing flames about a mile north of us as they entered northern Pasadena. Many others, not just in Altadena but across Los Angeles, weren’t so fortunate. Now that we’re safe, my wife and I scour the web for information about how we can support local evacuation and animal shelters. Yet, as we’re deep in research mode, a text tells me that the local press fleet is dropping o a 2025 GMC Hummer EV SUV in a few minutes.
I knew it was coming. Even as GMC
graciously offered to reschedule the loan, given the circumstances, I declined. I’d initially planned a multi-day road trip into the desert to test the Hummer over highway stretches and o -road, but that was o the table. Still, having a massive vehicle around to haul or tow supplies makes sense at a time like this. If anything, its gigantic 170-kilowatthour battery pack can power my house in case of an outage.
We jump in and head to the shelters all over town. Lines of cars stretch for miles as hundreds of people travel from Pasadena and beyond, their trunks full of supplies ready to help. We visit a handful and encounter the same crowding, so we turn to social media. Countless videos of shelter spokespeople appear, urging the public to hold o on bringing more items. Their sta and volunteers are overwhelmed, unable to e ectively process and distribute them all.
I’m amazed at how quickly our city united to support one another. Still, I’m gutted that our first e ort to contribute failed. As we head back home, my wife decides that if more supplies won’t help, donating directly will. She spends the rest of Thursday and the following Friday contributing to various campaigns, supporting local businesses destroyed by the fires, the 2025 Wildfire Relief Fund that routes resources to displaced households, and donating directly to families via GoFundMe.
Saturday morning comes, and the sky appears deceptively clear. However, a notification on my phone warns that the air quality is hazardous. It’s the first moment of solace since the fires began. The weight of having to ditch my home in the middle of the night, the constant fear of imminent loss, and the general destruction of my surrounding community fall on me, crushing my desire to do anything other than lay on the couch with the shades drawn. However, I’ve still got the Hummer parked out back.
I’ve borrowed it for a story and feel compelled to deliver. Truthfully, the prospect of stepping away from this ongoing natural disaster, even for half a day, is too tempting to pass up. So I sketch a quick route on a map, taking me from Pasadena to Joshua Tree National Park and back. I pull up the air quality and fire risk indicators for the desert on my phone, both are in the green. I decide to go.
As I walk up to the electric behemoth parked just outside my garage, I notice it’s collected a layer of ash, fallen leaves, and broken branches overnight, making its Meteorite Metallic paint appear almost a shade darker. As far as o -roading SUVs go, it’s hard to believe that something this massive, is powered by electricity. As you press the start button, you half expect the burble of a small-block V8 or the chatter of a Duramax, but neither comes.
PLUGGED IN AT A 350KW CHARGER JUST OUTSIDE
Instead, graphics and sounds attempt to infuse theatrics, an anti-climatic start for such a flashy machine. Not even its knobby set of 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT tires make much of a sound. Only the noise of cracking branches crushed under the Hummer’s immense weight enters the cabin.
Even as you sit behind the wheel, peering through the almost upright and short windshield, you’re never allowed to forget that the Hummer isn’t a run-of-the-mill SUV. The distance between driver and passenger isn’t as vast as in an H1, but reaching them still requires a stretch. As you grip the massive wheel, the scale of this enormous interior makes you feel 10 years old again, like you’ve snuck o into your parent’s car for a makebelieve drive, fabricated sound e ects and all. I look ahead, and its 12.3-in digital instrument cluster reads about a 70 percent state of charge, and 221 miles of range. We’ll have to stop at some point to charge, but that’s a problem for future me.
A sharp right-hander lines me up with a highway on-ramp as I approach Interstate 210 heading east. As one does when presented with a runway and clearance for take-o , I gun it. I’ve experienced world-beating acceleration from the Lucid Air Sapphire, the Pininfarina Battista, and the Lamborghini
Revuelto. Still, none is quite as dramatic as the GMC Hummer EV SUV.
It squats violently. This electric colossus picks up speed in a way something of its size shouldn’t be able to, even without the fullpower Watts To Freedom mode engaged. Sure, there isn’t an exhaust note to enjoy, but I’d trade that any day for a small building that’s still quicker than most sports cars. The secret to this formidable performance is a tri-motor setup, one up front and two in the rear, which can deliver up to 830 horsepower and a 3.5-second 0-60 mph time.
To put that into perspective, the GMC Hummer EV’s estimated weight is just under that of three McLaren 750s, yet it’s only about a second slower to 60 mph despite a surplus of only 90 hp. It doesn’t lose steam at highway speeds, either. Stab the accelerator and you’ll still get a confident burst forward, the nose lifting toward the sun. Regardless, its performance is beyond impressive.
To conserve some semblance of e ciency, I dial back the speed and engage Super Cruise. This is GM’s hands-free driver assistance system for those unfamiliar, available on various models from GMC, Cadillac, and Chevrolet. It works on over 750,000 miles of mapped roads, disengaging when there isn’t su cient data. It can even execute automatic
lane changes. It’s the type of system that is so easy to use and e ective that living without it again is something I don’t look forward to. Effortlessly passing slow traffic on the left lane, it’s clear that the GMC Hummer EV SUV might be marketed as an o -roader, but it’s plenty luxurious. The cabin is nicely appointed, and beyond just being spacious, it’s relatively quiet below 70 mph. There’s endless room to store the inevitable snacks and bottles obtained on any road trip, and dark bronze accents create good contrast against the black plastics.
A bright 13.4-inch infotainment screen complements the digital cluster nicely. At the same time, the controls you most often use remain mapped to physical buttons and switches. Its heated and ventilated front seats are comfortable for longer drives and o er decent side bolstering. With abundant interior space, spending long periods in its cabin never feels claustrophobic, even less so if you option the $1,495 Infinity Roof incorporating removable glass panels. While I threw the route for this drive together in Apple Maps, I quickly migrated it to this truck’s native infotainment system. It relies on Google Maps for navigation data, which means it works well. However, the major benefit is the myGMC mobile app
The Hummer EV SUV asks just about anywhere: “What if you wanted to accelerate as quickly as a sports car?”
which allows you to add charging stops on the fly, instantly forwarding the data from your phone to the map in the central screen. It makes tracking how many chargers are ahead and behind you e ortless, significantly cutting down any range anxiety.
Anxiety isn’t something I feel at all, roadtripping an EV through Southern California in early 2025, especially the GMC Hummer EV SUV. Its battery pack is massive, providing an estimated 312 miles of range on a full charge. However, opt for the Extreme O -Road Package, and that figure will drop. While this is an 800-volt system, allowing it to charge at up to 300 kilowatts, recharging this massive pack takes time and, as I soon found out, considerable cost.
GM vehicles recently gained access to the Tesla Supercharger network, allowing you to charge at over 17,800 stations nationwide, bringing the total accessible network to over 231,800 Level 2 and DC fast-charging stations in North America. However, you must consult the myGMC app because some stations remain Tesla-only.
The road past Palm Springs and up to Joshua Tree feels like you’ve been teleported to Mars. Epic rock formations litter the landscape as hundreds of windmills punctuate through the desert floor. The sky is spotless, and the moon is visible through mountain peaks.
As the truck predicted, I make it to a 350 kW EVgo charger just outside Joshua Tree with 19 percent left. It’s deserted, and within minutes, the GMC Hummer EV SUV is pulling an indicated 304 kW, exceeding its stated limit. The jump from 19 to 90 percent takes 48 minutes and costs $97.55. While that’s still less than it would cost to fuel a comparatively sized internal combustion truck, the savings aren’t substantial.
As its tires cross the first patch of desert sand, I realize I’m not thinking about fire or destruction for the first time in days. I’m driving this huge and powerful thing and just having fun. It asks: what if your o -roading SUV was as spacious as a van, as comfortable as a luxury car, but as quick as a sports car?
The second and most crucial part of that question is this: what if it was that quick just about anywhere? The desert provides ample room to find out. The Hummer rips through washboard roads, and if you dial back traction control and engage O -Road mode, it’ll drift, too. I ask my wife to drive

past me as I snap some photos, and I can see her smiling through the window. Someone not even vaguely interested in cars, much less massive trucks, is having a blast in the desert. Almost as much as I am watching this giant SUV kicking up an enormous dust cloud as it sprints past.
Although our schedule initially has us heading home after two hours, we stay for an extra two, driving through the desert, stopping for photos, and generally enjoying a lovely day at the end of a cluster of bad ones. To my surprise, she wants to keep driving, a request never made when I’ve got a McLaren, Lamborghini, or Ferrari on loan. Yet, that’s what makes the GMC Hummer EV SUV such a compelling truck. It isn’t just fast, spacious, and comfortable. It’s easy to drive. Despite its footprint, thanks to over a dozen cameras, maneuvering it is no challenge, making it approachable to anyone. The SUV takes things further because its wheelbase is nearly nine inches shorter than
the truck’s. Combined with an aggressive rear-axle steering system, it has the turning radius of a small sedan.
Of course, the elephant in the room: It isn’t exactly the most elegant thing to be seen in. You won’t be cross-shopping it with a Range Rover or a Mercedes-Benz G-Class, but that’s not what it’s going for. With an as-tested price of $109,415, it certainly costs less than both. Like the BMW XM, the Hummer is a statement piece; it’s not for flying under the radar. It’s meant to be a little absurd, bordering on obnoxious, but that’s part of the experience.
As I head back towards Los Angeles, to the inevitable heaviness that awaits me, I’m glad I decided to step away for the day. I’m happier still I’m driving this enormous, 830-hp electric SUV. In an industry often consumed by chasing segment targets and outgoing competitors, it is easy to forget that cars still need to be fun. Thankfully, the Hummer doesn’t.

Porsche and Aimé Leon Dore Reimagine the 993 Turbo in Mulberry Green.
WORDS : Jordan Aquistapace
Few collaborations in the automotive and streetwear world feel as seamless as Porsche and Aimé Leon Dore (ALD). This partnership, now in its fourth iteration, combines Porsche’s high-performance heritage with ALD’s e ortless approach to high-fashion streetwear and design. Their latest project? A jaw-dropping restoration of the iconic Porsche 993 Turbo, finished in Aimé Leon Dore’s signature Mulberry Green. By focusing on one of Porsche’s most beloved air-cooled models, the 993, the collaboration highlights how timeless style and performance come together to create something truly extraordinary. While modern Porsche models stand out as technological powerhouses, this restoration serves as a love letter to the classics that laid the foundation for the brand’s global reputation.
From the moment you see it, this Mulberry Green masterpiece is captivating. The aesthetic upgrades make it clear this isn’t your standard 993 Turbo but something so much more. Aimé Leon Dore has upgraded the car with a Turbo S exhaust system, an aero-focused front splitter, and the unmistakable “whale tail” wing that pays homage to Porsche’s legendary design DNA. Completing the look are 18-inch Turbo Twist rims wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires, providing both an iconic look and serious road performance. Every detail of the car’s styling perfectly balances understated luxury and motorsport aggression, turning heads whether cruising city streets or parked at a collector’s garage. It’s a bold yet respectful take on a model that already had Porsche purists in awe when it debuted in the 1990s.
Step inside, and the collaboration’s creative vision becomes even more apparent. The interior is a tribute to Queens, New York—the borough where Aimé Leon Dore was founded. Dark brown leather wraps the cabin, complemented by plush lambswool accents that exude comfort and sophistication. Hardback seats pay homage to the 911’s motorsport heritage, adding a vintage feel without sacrificing refinement. But it’s the small details that truly steal the show: a gold Unisphere gear knob pays homage to the Queens
PORSCHE’S LEGACY IS BUILT ON PRECISION ENGINEERING AND PERFORMANCE, WHILE AIMÉ LEON DORE IS KNOWN FOR ITS METICULOUS APPROACH TO DESIGN AND CRAFTSMANSHIP.
landmark, while etched door sills bear the phrase “A team from outta Queens with the American dream.” These touches transform the car’s interior into more of a cultural statement and a nod to the brand’s roots.
The collaboration is all about honoring shared values. Porsche’s legacy is built on precision engineering and performance, while Aimé Leon Dore is known for its meticulous approach to design and craftsmanship. The restored 993 Turbo bridges these worlds beautifully, combining ALD’s fashion-forward sensibilities with Porsche’s storied history of creating driverfocused sports cars. The result is a custom build that’s as much a work of art as it is a machine built for the road. For collectors and enthusiasts, this isn’t just another restored Porsche—it’s a symbol of what’s possible when two industries come together to push boundaries.
In the end, the Mulberry Green Porsche 993 Turbo celebrates history, culture, and the pursuit of excellence. It’s an example of how timeless design and performance can unite to create something that will continue to inspire for generations to come. Whether you’re a fan of Porsche, Aimé Leon Dore, or both, this 993 Turbo is proof that the best things come from partnerships built on passion and creativity.

PROTECTING WHAT I LOVE WITH PROTECTION FILMS AND COATINGS
My boating background started as a young one, as far back as a 4 year old growing up on the water fishing and tubing with my family during the summer. This passion for boats and water has always been a part of my life. Over the last 20 years I have personally had multiple boats; from 5 Wakeboard/Ski boats, to 2 normal Runabout boats, and 3 Go-Fast boats ranging in length from 21 feet long up to a 38 foot offshore style go-fast boat.
XPEL Marine Window Film not only makes the boat look sleeker but also serves a greater purpose. With the window film installed I can now see my large dash displays that are like two mini-iPads. Before, the sun’s glare was so bad it was hard to see the displays in the sun. Now I can see them clear, while in full sun. This will also prevent the screens and vinyl dash from being damaged or faded from the sun’s harmful UV rays. I feel like this was a great improvement, as this helps solve multiple issues we have here in Arizona.
XPEL Marine Protection Film (MPF) was installed on the complete sides of hull from bow to stern. MPF was also installed on the rear transom and along the leading edges of the swim platform. We then protected all high impact areas on the upper edges of the boat where people put their arms and get in and out of the boat for added protection. This will insure there is no chance of scratching the gelcoat and protects from general wear and tear. Marine protection film was installed here for multiple reasons. Any time you are tied up at the dock you will get scratches from the dock and your bumpers, regardless of how good your bumpers are, or how careful you are. Also, doing the complete sides of the hull stops any scratches from happing when loading the boat on the trailer from the guiding pulls – AKA my wife bumping them any time she loads the boat on the trailer. Doing this also helps offer protection from road debris and chips from truck or trailer tires while traveling down the road. Protecting the rear transom and swim platform is a must. Over the years, owning ski and wake boats I have had more people hit the transom and swim platform with wakeboards or skis. These impacts have scratched or chipped the boats gelcoat, generating costly repairs from the damage.
XPEL Marine Ceramic Coating was applied on all gelcoat surfaces, PPF, and glass. There is nothing worse thancleaning a 95% black boat after a great day on the water. Before doing the PPF and Ceramic Coating this would take 30-40 minutes to wipe down correctly. XPEL Marine Ceramic Coating has been a game changer. This now takes 10 minutes to do correctly, even in our 110-degree plus summer weather in Arizona. With ceramic coating, 85% of the water runs off as I pull the boat out of the water.

CLASS IS IN SESSION
Daytona 500 Champion Trevor Bayne is joining Flatrock Motorclub as Head Pro and Ambassador. Naturally, we were excited about this development and asked Bayne a few questions regarding his plans during his upcoming tenure at Flatrock Motorclub.
WORDS : Ed Jones
dR: What excites you most about joining Flatrock Motorclub as Head Pro and Ambassador?
Trevor Bayne: I couldn’t be more excited that a world-class motorsports facility now exists an hour from where I grew up and where I am now raising my family. Over my 28 years in motorsports, I have been blessed with amazing opportunities to drive, compete, grow businesses, and form lifelong relationships. This role at Flatrock Motorclub will allow me to continue doing all of those things. As I have transitioned out of full time NASCAR competition, new passions for me within the sport have emerged that I didn’t realize were there. One of those passions is coaching young drivers and helping them take full advantage of the opportunities they have in front of them. I truly look forward to seeing all of our members grow as drivers and reach their goals, as the Head Pro at Flatrock. As an Ambassador, I am excited about growing the brand and awareness within the motorsports community of how incredibly unique Flatrock is as a race track and as an entertainment community! Finally, I think that we have the opportunity to build something that can change future opportunities for those locally who, until now, have had to travel states away to pursue their motorsports passions. I think about my five kids and some of their desires to drive. Once the karting facility is complete, they will have an unbelievable place to get started! To sum it up, this position is the perfect storm that encompasses everything I love about motorsports.
dR: How do you plan to leverage your experience as a NASCAR driver to elevate Flatrock’s o erings?
Trevor Bayne: My experience as a driver since the age of five has allowed me to compete in many di erent vehicles, series, and on tracks all across the world. This has allowed me to see countless examples of how to be successful in this industry. The first thing that comes to mind is safety. In my time as a NASCAR driver, I saw how big of an emphasis was put on every single detail from seat belt positioning to track safety crew processes, and will be able to bring that knowledge to our team. Safety is something that will be front and center of what we do here at Flatrock Motorclub. Next, I think about all of the time I have spent competing against the top drivers in the world and how we can take what I learned and make that approachable and teachable to our members. Finally, whether it be team owners, OEMs, business leaders, track owners, series operators, drivers, etc., the countless relationships I have been fortunate to form over the years will be invaluable to what we want to accomplish here at Flatrock.
dR: What unique aspects of Flatrock’s design and amenities stand out to you as a racer?
Trevor Bayne: This facility was designed and built with a very specific purpose; to serve its members at the highest level. From the time you pull into the front gate you can instantly tell you are not at just any old track. The fact that you could be turning laps on track while your family is watching from your garage loft porch or spending time at one of the restaurants, spa, or pool by the clubhouse is mind-blowing to me. When I was growing up at the track, we were lucky to find a portable bathroom or concession stand anywhere on property! This project is “luxury hospitality meeting world-class motorsports.” It doesn’t hurt that the track is set in the beautiful hills of East Tennessee either which, in all honesty, I am extremely partial to!
dR: How will the design and features of Flatrock’s road course enhance the experience for members?
Trevor Bayne: The layout and elevation make Flatrock’s track one of a kind. It is a technical and fast track with a really good flow to it. There are plenty of unique challenges that will keep any driver from getting complacent. Starting at turn 1, you drop down a couple stories as you turn right and try to spot the apex curbing. A couple corners later you are on seventeen degrees of banking in a high-speed right-hand turn. Once you navigate the up and down eases, and a handful of more technical corners, you find yourself on our longest straightway that features a high-speed kink (hold it wide open if you can!). I have probably made more laps than anyone on our track, and they have a hard time convincing me to get out of the car every time we have a track day! It’s so much fun to drive and always leaves you thinking about how you can put a faster lap time together.
dR: How does Flatrock’s FIA Grade II track elevate its status in the global motorsport community?
Trevor Bayne: Going through the Homologation process with the FIA means that we meet all safety requirements to host pretty much any series (short of Formula 1) on our track. We are also the only FIA grade II purpose built club track in the world upon completion. This is just another way the team shows our commitment to provide a world class track for our members to drive on.
dR: Can you share an example of a memorable mentorship experience and how it shaped your coaching style?
Trevor Bayne: I am so thankful for everyone who has helped me throughout my career. First I think of my dad, who has never missed a lap of one of my races and would tell me every detail that happened on the drive home… as if I hadn’t just lived it. He has been there through the ups and downs and never let me let up on pursuing my dreams. Next, I think of my close friend Michael McDowell who was first hired to help coach me on road courses when I was driving for Michael Waltrip back in 2009. He is an honest friend who will tell you like it is, but in a way that lets you know he is pulling for you. This is a tough balance and one that I am always striving to implement. He is also a very practical problem solver. Next, I think of my friend Blake Koch, who is the encourager. He always finds a way to make you feel like you could run through a brick wall with enough preparation. As I coach, I hope to be as committed as my dad, hold drivers accountable, help them overcome hurdles like Michael, and encourage them like Blake.
dR: As someone who started racing at age five, how does it feel to now be in a position to mentor young drivers?
“WHAT AN HONOR IT IS TO BE IN A PLACE TO HAVE A LASTING IMPACT ON THE NEXT GENERATION OF DRIVERS.”
Trevor Bayne: What an honor it is to be in a place to have a lasting impact on the next generation of drivers. Racecar drivers can often feel isolated and operate on an island. Competitors may be the only people who can relate or understand what you are going through, but it can be hard to build those relationships as they are the people you are up against every week. That’s where people like myself come in. Whether it be on or o the track, I have been there to experience the same things they are going through and can help walk them through those struggles. Hopefully, I can help them prevent some of those struggles before they ever get there. As far as driving, I am also a very data-driven person so I am not just there to share what I know about racing with them. I also love to sit down and look at film and data to find the potential areas to improve. Nothing makes me feel more proud than when I see one of my drivers go out and implement something we talked about and go faster!
dR: What advice would you give to young drivers aspiring to follow in your footsteps?
Trevor Bayne: Be fully present in the current opportunity! It is so important to take advantage of the opportunity you have right now and not always be looking at the next one. If you can make the most of where you are today, then tomorrow will take care of itself! The best way to do that is to stay focused, be relentless in preparation, and realize the importance of the culture you are building as the leader of your team. There is always a need for funding and sponsorship in motorsports, so there is always going to be a huge emphasis on the relationships you are building that can help support your dreams financially as well.
dR: What trends do you see shaping the future of motorsports, and how is Flatrock positioned to embrace them?
Trevor Bayne: I have seen a huge shift in interest towards road course racing over the past few years, even inside of NASCAR. When I first started at the top level, we had two road courses on the schedule (Watkins Glen and Sonoma). This season they will race on six road course circuits. When you couple that with the growing interest in Formula One it seems to paint a clear picture that fans are enjoying the action they are seeing at these types of tracks. We are also seeing passionate motorsports enthusiasts wanting to find ways to get on track themselves. That is where Flatrock Motorclub creates the perfect bridge. It really doesn’t matter if you have never been on track or if you are a young driver who wants as many laps as possible during race season, Flatrock Motorclub provides the opportunity for both types to reach their goals.
Another trend is providing Next Level hospitality. I think part of that is because our culture has shifted so heavily towards unique experiences. For sponsors, the sport is no longer about putting a business on the scheme of a car. It is now about entertaining guests and customers with an experience that they couldn’t buy anywhere else. Flatrock Motorclub has fully leaned into that with the design of some of the nicest amenities of any track in the world.
Flatrock is one of the coolest tracks to drive coupled with everything you could ever want from a country club!

PRESTIGE IMPORTS
We asked Brett David, CEO of Prestige Imports in Miami, Florida, a few questions regarding his prestigious dealership and the current market.
WORDS : Ed Jones
OUR JOURNEY STARTED WITH A DREAM AND
dR: What was the inspiration, and describe the journey, for this dealership?
Brett David: The inspiration started with my father Irv, back in 1977, when he started Prestige Imports. He brought Lamborghini to Miami in 1988 and a legendary brand was born. When he passed, we wanted to continue his legacy with Lamborghini Miami. Our journey started with a dream and now we’re the most followed franchise in the country.
dR: How does your dealership di erentiate itself from others in the luxury car market?
Brett David: It comes down to the customer experience and the quality of inventory. We hold ourselves to the mantra of “We are Ladies & Gentlemen, serving Ladies & Gentlemen”. Our clients are treated with the utmost respect and we value producing them an experience that’s second to none. With that foundation and the rarified supercars and hypercars, Lamborghini Miami continues to be the ultimate destination to buy an exotic.
dR: What brands or models are your top sellers, and why do you think they resonate with your clients?
Brett David: Our Miami market responds strongly to Lamborghini. The Urus is the ultimate daily driver for both men and women, the last generation of the Huracan continues to be strong due to its V10, and of course both the Aventador and Revuelto have the drama and allure as a true halo V12 car. We’re very excited to see the latest Temerario on the streets of South Florida.
dR: Can you share the story behind one of the most unique or rare vehicles you’ve sold?
Brett David: Without a doubt it would be the delivery of the 1-of-3 Lamborghini Veneno to our dear friend KS. Both the car and the owner are true Lamborghini legends, so it was amazing to be part of that hypercar journey.
dR: How do you create a memorable buying experience?
Brett David: By understanding the client comes first. Whether it’s the client’s first Supercar or their fifteenth, the process from start to finish needs to be customer centric. The client is the real employer, and without them, we wouldn’t be able to be here today.
dR: What trends are you noticing in the luxury car market, and how are they influencing your business?
Brett David: The upward trend of Lamborghini is astonishing. Both the general enthusiast and most avid collector respect Lamborghini’s product more than ever. Their supercars have found a way to speak to people in a way like never before, and they are truly the best to drive all around.
dR: How has the profile of luxury car buyers evolved in recent years?
Brett David: We’ve seen our client base continue to get younger. They value individuality and experiences above all, and it translates into the cars they’re buying today.
dR: What should people know about your dealership when first stepping on the showroom floor?
Brett David: That when you walk into Lamborghini Miami and Prestige Imports, you are truly welcomed and we want you to enjoy our world of supercars. From visiting tourists to lifelong clients, our house is always open to those who have passion for automotive.
dR: What are your goals for the dealership in the next five to ten years?
Brett David: The last five years we’ve focused on redeveloping our Lamborghini Miami campus. From building a new showroom and a state of the art service center, Lamborghini Miami is now positioned to be the ultimate franchise. Our goal for the next five years is to create the most elite customer experience that’ll include vehicle storage facilities, aftersales/service capabilities for our clients worldwide, and solidifying Lamborghini as the ultimate supercar brand.
dR: What does duPont REGISTRY mean to you?
Brett David: Prestige Imports was the first dealership to advertise with duPont REGISTRY. We value both our family relationship over the years and the acclaim of a brand that speaks to enthusiasts worldwide.
“Our journey started with a dream and now we’re the most followed franchise in the country.”

DATA-DRIVEN INSIGHT: WHAT MAKES THE LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO A GOOD INVESTMENT?
The Lamborghini Gallardo is a V10-powered sports car that helped resurrect the Italian marque following Audi’s purchase in 1998, and was the catalyst for its leap towards the forefront of modern-day supercar marques. But what is its investment potential in 2025?
WORDS : Charles Bradley
How many Lamborghini Gallardo cars were built?
After the Murciélago became Lamborghini’s first new design in eleven years in 2001, the entry-level Gallardo, known internally as the ‘Baby Lambo’, followed in 2003 and soon became its best-selling model. Just over 14,000 were built during its 10-year production run (9,640 were Coupés, 4,352 were Spyders).
Based on a 1995 concept car from Italdesign Guigiaro called the Calà, the original Gallardo Coupé (which translates to ‘gallant’ from Spanish), is powered by a midmounted 5-liter, 90-degree V10 engine, generating 493 hp. It shares its platform with the Audi R8, and most of its model range features four-wheel drive.
What are the main selling points of the Lamborghini Gallardo?
With an original MSRP of $165,000, a 196mph Spyder version of the Coupé was launched in 2006, with an uprated engine producing 513 hp, and a lightweight Superleggera followed a year later, boasting another 10 hp. Thanks to Audi’s influence, the Gallardo benefited from improved build quality and reliability compared to earlier Lamborghinis.
This is the model that truly established Lamborghini as a serious player in the supercar market, and led to the ultra-successful Huracan that followed.
What do you need to know before you buy a Lamborghini Gallardo?
As with all makes and models, you must focus on the condition, mileage, service history, specification and options. For instance, facelifted versions arrived between 2008-2013, called the LP 560-4, now with a 5.2-liter engine, ramping up power output to over 550 hp and pushing its top speed to over 200mph.
Spyder and LP 570-4 Superleggera (562 hp) versions of the LP 560-4 followed suit. A Performante (convertible) version of the Superleggera became available a year later. Lamborghini also launched a lower-cost, rear-wheel drive version of the car, called the 550-2, which was sold in Coupé, AD and Spyder variants, between 2010 and 2013.
Many special editions were also sold, and the model was also widely used in sportscar racing, with a GT3 version built by Reiter Engineering in Germany. That led to a racing series called the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, which began in 2009 and became hugely successful. The European series spawned championships in Asia, North America and the Middle East.
What are the known issues with the Lamborghini Gallardo?
Lamborghini recalled about 1,500 Gallardo Coupé and Spyder models, from model years 2004 to 2006, because of the possibility of power steering fluid leaking and the risk of fire. The cars were built from May 2003 through April 2008.
How many Lamborghini Gallardo cars were sold last year?
Per live auction data from Hammer Price, 12 Gallardos were sold in 2024, while another nine failed to sell. Last year’s sales auction total for the model was a shade over $1.2 million, with an average price per sale of $103,000. Including online auctions, per Classic.com, 57 Gallardos were sold in 2024 for a total of $6.5 million, with an average sale price of almost $114k.
What was the highest-priced Lamborghini Gallardo at auction in 2024?
The highest price paid at a live auction last year was $164,590 for a red on red/black 2012 LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale special edition car (number 35 of 150 built) with 17,300 km on the clock. The sale occurred at Bonham’s Zoute auction, and the car was presented in “near mint condition”.
What is the record price paid for a Lamborghini Gallardo?
The record price for a Gallardo was set in October 2024, when $578,000 was paid on Bring a Trailer for a 2013 LP570-4 Spyder Performante with 2,300 miles on the clock, believed to be one of three US-market examples featuring a six-speed manual gearbox.

The highest price at a live auction was $396,000 for a 2007 ‘Blu Fotus’ on blue/tan Spyder at Mecum’s Indianapolis sale in 2022. With just 1631 miles on the clock, this car was sold as a part of the Asi and Lisa Sheikh Collection, which offered 34 cars with no reserve and achieved $6.7 million in total.
What is the lowest price paid for a Lamborghini Gallardo?
The lowest price paid for a Gallardo at auction was set in 2019 at $59,171 for a green on black GT3 race car example at Artcurial Motorcars’ auction in Paris. A 2008 LP560-4, which featured a Superleggera-style bodywork upgrade, sold for $52,000 at online auction via Collecting Cars in 2023.
Conclusion
Lamborghini’s Gallardo o ers a fantastic entry point into the world of exotic cars, particularly the rarer manual transmission models, which are becoming collectors’ items.
Although this sportscar was mass produced, by adding German reliability to Italian design flare, the Gallardo has not only stood the test of time from a reliability front, but manual gearbox examples add as much as 50% to the price. Market intelligence suggests that 84% of interest in this model comes from Gen X and younger, suggesting a ‘future classic’ potential, and sale prices have risen 7.3% since 2019. Given how Lambo’s Murciélago and Diablo prices have rocketed in recent times, the more a ordable Gallardo could follow suit in years to come as interest in the ‘noughties’ surges.*
