WAYNE BROWN WELCOME TO PARK DRIVE FOR THIS AFTERNOON’S FIXTURE AGAINST BURY AS WE RETURN TO THE ISTHMIAN LEAGUE AFTER A SHORT BREAK. I’D LIKE TO START BY GIVING BEN, HIS TEAM AND THEIR SUPPORTERS A WARM WELCOME TO PARK DRIVE, ALONG WITH TODAY’S MATCH OFFICIALS. I HOPE YOU ALSO HAVE A SAFE JOURNEY HOME. It was disappointing to go out of the FA Trophy last week, although a penalty shoot-out is always a lottery. We were in the same position last season against Grays and on that day, it went in our favour and we then went on a good cup run. In the second half last week, I felt we had done enough to win the game and once again, we were not clinical enough in front of goal. In the first half, we were not good enough and the team know they need to improve. We need to play the whole ninety minutes as a team and not just in stages, but we are a young group and the lads are continually learning with every week that passes. Although we went out of the Trophy, we didn’t lose the game and we are now unbeaten in three games, so to speak. Defensively, we need to improve and after some impressive performances, Ted more than deserves his first clean sheet. Hopefully today is the day! Bury will be a tough test today - they are a football club who can maintain and build upon their squad, year after year. They’ve shown over the last few seasons what a good side they are and I am sure, come the end of the season, they will be in the mix for promotion. They’ve got a great team with an experienced management team and the club is well supported. That said, we are the home team and it’s important that we continue to put our mark on the game and look to take control from the outset. Next week, we are away to Aveley on the Friday night, before we welcome Tilbury to Park Drive. SATURDAY 9TH OCTOBER | BUILDBASE FA TROPHY SECOND ROUND QUALIFYING | ATT: 272 FELIXSTOWE & WALTON UNITED WIN 7-6 ON PENALTIES Wayne Brown’s side will enjoy no repeat of last season’s FA Trophy run, as they exited the competition last weekend on penalties against Felixstowe & Walton United. The Jammers started on the front foot and early on were denied what looked to be a goal. After smart play from Emmanuel Martins down the left, the ball eventually reached Bradley McClenaghan on the edge of the box whose powerful shot rebounded off the crossbar and appeared to have crossed the line but neither the referee nor his assistant signalled for a goal, to the amazement of all those in the ground. Shortly after, McClenaghan had another shot go close, this time the ball being cleared off the line by a visiting defender. After the disappointment of the goal that wasn’t given, Brown’s side appeared to lose their way and Felixstowe grew into the game - in the 24th minute, that came to a head as the visitors took the lead. After Maldon had conceded a soft free-kick, Felixstowe capitalised as Samuel Nunn headed the ball back across goal to an unmarked Ollie Canfer, who tapped home from close range. The Jammers were forced into an early substitution as Lordon Akolbire was unable to continue, being replaced by Harry Taylor. Ted Collins was called into action and made a superb save from close range to keep the deficit to just one, whilst Charlee Hughes went close with an effort of his own, before collecting a yellow card for a high foot. As half-time approached, the Jammers had appeals for a penalty waved away, before a last-ditch, goal-saving block from Sam Cornish ensured that the game remained at 0-1 going into the break.

With the Gaffer’s words ringing in their ears, the Jammers looked brighter at the start of the second half. Hughes was replaced at the break by Scott Kemp and it was only Maldon who looked like scoring in the early stages. Martyn Stokes saw his header saved, before some smart play by Taylor allowed him to cross the ball into the box, but an onrushing Cornish could only divert his diving header into the hands of the away goalkeeper. Maldon continued to press forward and create chances, without being clinical in front of goal. Malachi Napa blew his chance over the bar, before Kemp was unable to get on the end of a dangerous cross from Shomari Barnwell. In the 70th minute, the home side were rewarded for their improvement - Taylor was again the creator, and his cross reached Cornish on the edge of the box who unleashed a powerful effort that rebounded in off the post to level the tie. In the last twenty minutes, the game had a ‘cup tie’ feel to it as Maldon pushed forward. The chances continued to come and go and, having been unable to capitalise on a number of set-pieces, the Jammers were perhaps fortunate in the last seconds of the match as Felixstowe’s Zak Brown fell to the floor in the penalty area under pressure from Stokes, but saw his appeals for a penalty waved away. The game would be decided by penalties. Maldon won the coin toss and decided to take first. Napa stepped up with confidence but saw his effort rebound off the post. Felixstowe scored to take the advantage, Turpin and Barnwell took next for the Jammers and converted from the spot. Ted Collins pulled off an amazing save as Felixstowe missed their third spotkick and the shoot-out was tied at 2-2 after three penalties each. The quality of penalties from both sides was high, with Cornish and Taylor converting to reach sudden-death. After seven penalties it was 6-6, with Kemp and Moses having converted for the hosts. Next up was captain Martyn Stokes, but unfortunately, his effort was saved by Callum Robinson to hand Felixstowe with the advantage. Visiting captain, Jordan Matthews, took the decisive penalty-kick. Making contact with it, Collins appeared to have kept the Jammers in the tie for a split-second, but his save wasn’t strong enough to keep the ball from reaching the back of the net and Matthews wheeled away in celebration.

The U11 Pumas arrived in Chelmsford hungry for all three points after a hard-fought draw the week before, also wanting to put in a performance for fellow Puma Thomas who was ruled out due to illness. As the mist descended on a wet and bumpy pitch, the game got underway. The early exchanges were evenly matched with the Pumas playing a high-press, forcing the Knights into defensive errors and going close with chances for Ollie Bannister. As the front three continued to press, the dynamic midfield duo of Oliver and Dexter found space and started to play their passing game, dictating the play from the middle, with Toby and George constant threats coming in from the flanks. As we pushed on for the opener, there was always the chance of a counter, the first came and was superbly read by Reece, diffusing the danger and carrying the ball out with confidence. This was followed by a superb

save from captain Percy low down to his right to keep honours even at half-time. A quick change of tactics at half-time and clubman Ollie took a turn in goal. With the front three pressing so high, Toby showed quick feet again after some sublime control, before crossing for Tristan to score. The press continued, and spearheaded by man of the match George, who never gave up all game, it was rewarded with a strike into the top left bins for 2-0. Next up Toby, who deserved a goal for his endeavour, duly obliged to make it 3-0 with another top-corner pearler. Then there was a spell for the Knights, and Percy blocked an effort with a fantastic sliding challenge having trakced his runner to the six-yard box.

Eventually, though, a breakaway goal came. However, we were not finished yet and Christian played a onetwo with Dexter who lifted the ball over the feet of the defender and played a sublime pass into Tristan who finished for 4-1. Game, set and match.

It was a sensational team performance from the Pumas. Each and every one of the boys was immense and it was very pleasing to see our pass, move and high-press paying dividends.

Maldon & Tiptree U12 Pumas had a home Essex Cup game against Springfield. With two boys missing it was very important that the side started well, and that they did. With some fantastic football on display, the boys gained in confidence and it wasn’t long before they took the lead with a great strike from the captain, Harry Carruthers.

The Jammers’ games with Witham Town this season have been rearranged, with both the home and away fixtures brought forward to the evening before. Wayne Brown’s side will now visit Spa Road on Friday 5th November, whilst the return clash will take place here on Friday 4th March. Both games will kick-off at 7:45pm.

Founded in 1872, Bury Town Football Club is one of the oldest football clubs in the country and has a proud history dating back over 140 years. The club was founded by Mr William Lake at a meeting in the Suffolk Hotel. The original name of the club was Bury St Edmunds FC and the first committee of the club elected to choose royal blue as the club’s colours. The club took up residence at Kings Road, also know as the Cemetery Road ground, in 1888. Kings Road was the first football ground in East Anglia to operate floodlights when on Monday 12th January 1953, the Blues played their first ever floodlit game against Cambridge City in front of 2,105 spectators. A total of 14 bulbs of 1500 watts illuminated the Suffolk skyline for the first time and history was created. The lights were financed by the Bury Town Supporters Club. A notable player for the club in the early days was Reginald De Courtney Welch who appeared as a defender for Bury St Edmunds in 1877. De Courtney Welch was a member of The Wanderers side that won the first ever FA Cup in 1872 and he also

played in the first ever official international match for England, against Scotland in November 1872. The club was one of 11 founder members of the Suffolk County Football Association in 1885 and has won the Suffolk Premier Cup on 13 occasions. The clubs name was changed by a vote to Bury Town in September 1885, however 10 years later the members chose to adopt the full name of the town back as the name, before changing to Bury United in 1908. In 1923 the clubs members decided that the name ‘United’ was no longer appropriate as there were a number of sides in Bury St Edmunds, and decided to revert to Bury Town, which has remained to this day. The club played in various local leagues until 1935 when it became a founder member of the Eastern Counties League. The club spent a total of 22 consecutive seasons in the Eastern Counties League, finishing as runners up in 1937-38. The Blues claimed the ECL title in the 1963-64 season as part of an historic treble, as they also captured the ECL Knockout Cup and the Suffolk Premier Cup.

This success saw the club move to the Metropolitan League and they kicked off their first ever Metropolitan game against Charlton Athletic ‘A’ at Kings Road in front of 1,150 spectators, Bury running out 1-0 winners. The club finished 4th in their first season and also retained the Suffolk Premier Cup. Season 1965-66 was another successful season and another treble haul of trophies as the club stormed to the Metropolitan League title, won the Metropolitan League Cup and the Suffolk Premier Cup again. By this time the club were averaging over 1,000 supporters at their home matches and interest in the club was at an all-time high. In 1968, the Blues reached the First Round Proper of the FA Cup and drew Third Division side Bournemouth & Boscombe at Kings Road. 3,000 spectators assembled and witnessed Bury hold the Football League side to a goalless draw. The replay saw Bournemouth win through by 3 goals to 0 at Dean Court. The season had further success when the Blues won the Metropolitan League title for a second time. The clubs success resulted them taking the bold step to join the Southern Football League for the 197172 season. The club struggled to adapt to their new surroundings and after five seasons, decided to take the decision to re-join the Eastern Counties League, a decision that proved unpopular with supporters. On Wednesday 28th April 1976, Bury Town played their final match at the historic Kings Road ground when West Ham United were the visitors. 1,750 watched on as the sides drew 2-2, and a pitch invasion signalled the end of the Blues’ spiritual home. Bury Town moved into their current Ram Meadow ground in 1978 and collected the Suffolk Premier Cup as a reward.

The Blues spent a total of 11 seasons back in the ECL and their most successful moment of that time came in their final season when the reached the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup and were drawn away at Football Conference leaders Enfield. The sides drew 0-0 at Southbury Road and returned to Ram Meadow for the replay, however in front 2,500 supporters, the visitors sneaked home 1-0 to reach the First Round Proper. The 1987-88 season saw ambition return to the club and Bury were promoted to the Southern League. After a few seasons of promising results and large home crowds, the Blues failed to reach the Premier Division, the closest they came was finishing 4th in 1988-89. Years of overspending on players and ground improvements finally caught up and the club drifted into decline as the crowds drifted away. On the 4th May 1996, the Blues were relegated at Redditch United from the Midland Division of the Southern League, back to the Eastern Counties League. The club spent another 10 years in the ECL, and despite some early seasons of struggles, success coincided with the appointment of former Colchester United captain Richard Wilkins to the manager’s seat. The club reached the Quarter Final of the FA Vase in 2005 and then the Semi Final in 2006. Crowds rose back up and after two consecutive runners up spots in the Premier Division of the ECL, the club were promoted to the Isthmian League for the first time in their history. The stay lasted two seasons and after adjusting to a higher level in 2006-07

with a 17th place finish, the following season saw the Blues finish in 7th position. The FA reorganisation in 2008 saw Bury moved into the Southern League for a third spell of membership. A successful campaign saw Bury finish in 7th position in the Midland Division table, reach the First Round Proper of the FA Cup, losing 4-2 at Alfreton Town, and reach the Semi Final of the Southern League Cup, however in 2009-10, Bury Town clinched the Southern League Midland Division Championship on the final day of the season with a 3-0 home victory over Marlow in front of 1,550 supporters. The Blues piped Hitchin Town to the title, scoring 115 goals during the campaign and collecting 102 points to gain promotion. Another move across the pyramid saw the Blues re-join the Ryman League for the 2010-11 season, entering the Premier Division. A great season saw Bury finish third, but go out of the play off’s to Lowestoft Town. There was however some silverware for the boardroom as Bury defeated Needham Market 2-0 in the final of the Suffolk Premier Cup at Portman Road. 2011-12 saw the club lift the Ryman League Cup with a victory over East Thurrock United and again finished in the play off places, but lost out to AFC Hornchurch in the Semi Final. 2014-15 saw our spell in the Premier Division come to an end after 5 years with relegation to Division One North. In our last two seasons back in Division One North we have finished in 13th and 11th place. 2017-18 saw the Blues finish 9th and reach the final of the Suffolk Premier Cup. 2018-19 saw the Blues press for the play off places and a hope of a return to the Premier Division. It was a successful season with a 6th placed finished achieved, the best finish the club has had since relegation in 2015.

Baris joined from local rivals AFC Sudbury ahead of last season. He had previously been with Ipswich Town and Colchester United’s youth set up’s, and progressed through Sudbury’s academy before breaking into their first team and becoming captain in the 20019-20 season.

RYAN AUGER

BEN CHENERY

Ben became manager of Bury Town in June 2014 after spending two years in the role of assistant manager.

Ryan joined ahead of the 21/22 season from Soham Town Rangers following their switch to the Northern Premier League. Auger started his career with Southend United at age 11 and progressed to earn a professional contract with the Shrimpers aged 19. After leaving Southend he played for Bishops’s Stortford, Histon and Bedford Town, from where he joined Soham.

He previously has managerial experience with Chelmsford City and has played professional football for Cambridge United and Luton Town, as well as playing for a host of top flight non-league clubs. Ben is best remembered for scoring the winning goal for Canvey Island in the 2001 FA Trophy Final at Villa Park.

SAM BLAIR

A young goalkeeper who joined on loan from Premier League side Norwich City ahead of the 21/22 season. He was a member of their FA Youth Cup squad and was also called up to the Republic of Ireland Under 21’s squad in March of this year and looks to have a promising career ahead of him, having been with Norwich since the age of 10 and working his way through their academy system.

Jake joined Town in the summer of 2018. The attacking midfielder played for Mildenhall in the Bostik North where he made 35 appearances and scored 7 times. Prior to joining Mildenhall Jake was with Cambridge United and Histon. An exciting player who creates and scores goals.

OLLIE FENN

Joined on a month’s loan from Needham Market in February 2016 but made the permanent switch in 2017. Ollie previously played for Ipswich Town Academy and Irish Premier League side Galway United and is one of the more experienced members of the squad and club captain.

WILL GARDNER

Defender Will re-joined from Soham Town Rangers after a couple of seasons representing the Greens in the Isthmian North. He previously had a short spell with us after leaving Haverhill Rovers in the Eastern Counties League and after a couple of years more experience at Soham in this division he is a valuable addition to the side.

BEN HADDOCH

Ben is a 16 year old midfielder with huge potential who joined Bury Town towards the end of last season following his release from Colchester United’s academy and has already earned first team call ups.

TAYLOR HASTINGS

27 year old Taylor will bring some much needed experience to our back line this season. After re-locating to Bury he joined the club after playing for Harlow Town in the Isthmian Premier. He has also represented Enfield Town, Heybridge Swifts, Leiston and won promotion with Felixstowe & Walton.

JOE HOOD

21 year old Joe joined the Blues after playing with St Neots Town in the Southern Premier Division. He started his career with Peterborough United before going

on to represent Mildenhall Town, St Ives Town and then St Neots last season. Can play in either midfield or defence.

RYAN HORNE

Midfielder Ryan was with AFC Sudbury before joining the Blues and started his career with Cambridge United. He has also had spells with Soham Town Rangers and experience of step 3 at St Neots Town in the Southern League. He joined Sudbury from St Neots in December 2017 and made 21 appearances for them in the Bostik North before joining us.

OLLIE HUGHES

A striker who had great success at Walsham-Le-Willows before joining Leiston and then AFC Sudbury. He signed for the Blues after a year working abroad. He has won the annual Supporters Player of the Season award for the last five seasons in a row.

RYAN JOLLAND

A young midfielder who started out with the Ipswich Town academy before joining our partnership academy at West Suffolk College. Now a regular in the team and his performances have seen him placed under contract.

MAX MAUGHN

A bright young prospect who joined Bury Town in the summer of 2019 after being released by Colchester United. He was picked up by the U’s from local side Cornard United and Ben Chenery has high hopes for Max who is a skilful midfielder.

CEMAL RAMADAN

Cemal re-joined the club is early November 2018 after a short spell with Leiston. He was our leading goalscorer last season with over 30 goals which caught the eyes of many clubs higher up the pyramid, however he is now back at Ram Meadow and looking for goals again.

OLLIE SNAITH

Ollie joined us in the summer of 2020 from St Ives Town of the Southern League. Started out with Newmarket Town making his debut at 16 and going on to make over 100 appearances for the Jockeys. He then had spells with Needham Market and Cambridge City before spending the past 3 seasons with St Ives in the Southern Premier Division.

RYAN STAFFORD

Ryan joined ahead of the 2018-19 season after two years in Australia. He had previously played for Woodbridge Town and Hadleigh United and is the son of former Bury player Clive Stafford.

JOE WHITE

Another player who has progressed through the West Suffolk College academy scheme, a strong central defender who has worked his way into the team over the last couple of seasons and now a regular name on the team sheet.

In 2009, Ed Garty took over the ownership of Maldon Town from Michael Kirkham, whilst still in charge of running Tiptree United and installed Alan Brockhouse as Maldon Town’s new chairman. Following the takeover, Colin Wallington returned for a second spell in charge of Maldon Town, leaving his post as Tiptree United manager immediately. Colin previously managed Maldon Town from 2003 until 2007, having achieved promotion in the 200506 via the play-off final. Having left Maldon in 2007, Colin went on to manage Tiptree United where he achieved promotion winning the

Eastern Counties Division One title in the 2007/08 season. Until the conclusion of the 2009/10 season both Maldon Town & Tiptree United played their home games at Park Drive, under a ground share arrangement. In the summer of 2010, Maldon Town & Tiptree United amalgamated to form, Maldon & Tiptree Football Club, under the ownership of Ed Garty. As a result of the amalgamation, Tiptree United withdrew from the Essex Senior League, resulting in the club’s last ever fixture being a 3-1 defeat against Enfield 1893 on 24 April 2010. Maldon & Tiptree took

the place of Maldon Town in the Isthmian Division One North. Following the retirement of Colin Wallington, Assistant Manager, Brad King and Glen Knight were appointed as the clubs JointManager. As the pair’s first managerial role, the new club witnessed wholesale changes with only a handful of players remaining who finished the season with Maldon Town and Tiptree United, respectively. The 2010-11 campaign saw the new club remain in or around the play-off positions for the majority of the season, finishing in eighth

place to finish the season with sixty-three points. Despite the high turnover of players, the good standard of football was maintained and it was in the end, a disappointing end to the season, for the club to fall away in the later stages of the season when suspensions and injuries eventually took their toll to leave the club frustratingly short of the play-off positions at the end of April. The 2011-12 season, proved to not be so successful and in November 2011, King and Knight were relieved of their duties with immediate effect. Ex-Charlton professional Mike Flanagan was appointed as Caretaker Manager and remained in place until the end of the season, steering the club to a respectful mid-table finish, managing thirty-three games and finishing with a win percentage of 49.12%. At the start of the 2012-13 campaign, Ex-Stansted & Redbridge boss Terry Spillane was appointed as Manager, and Mike Flanagan departed the club. The change of management, once again brought wholesale changes with the playing squad. Ex Tiptree United manager, Jody was brought to the club as Terry’s Assistant Manager. After a fantastic and unbeaten start to the season, the club found themselves at the top of the table but an incredible run by eventual Champions Grays Athletic meant Maldon had to settle for a place in the play-offs – Terry’s side remained unbeaten until Boxing Day, when they lost away from home against local rivals Heybridge Swifts. Disappointment came in the play-off final however when they lost a two goal lead to draw with Thamesmead Town, who thenwent on to win the final,on penalties.

After a disappointing end to the previous season, Terry Spillane oversaw more wholesale changes in the playing squad, including the departure of Assistant Manager, Jody Brown. Despite the changes, Maldon finished in ninth position with seventy-six points, winning twenty-one games. More changes to the playing staff, resulted in poor start to the 2014-15 season, and the club parted ways with Spillane in September 2014, with Chairman, Ed Garty takeover as Caretaker Manager, for three games. At the end of September 2014, Alan Kimble was appointed as manager and remained in charge for the remainder of the season, however the side struggled and more changes in the playing staff occurred. Maldon finished the season in nineteenth place with only forty-nine points. During the 2014-15 season, Media Officer at the time, Richard Buckby ran a competition for supporters to vote for a club nickname, with the options The River Boys, The Marshmen, The Mudmen and The Jammers available. The vote took place in January 2015 and was featured on National Radio station, TalkSport, with the The Jammers winning the vote with over 50% and being confirmed as the clubs new nickname. Following the completion of the 2014-15 season, the club linked with Colchester United and the two clubs formed close ties, which resulted in ex Ipswich Town midfielder, David Wright being appointed as First Team Manager. Wright remained in charge until December 2015 as he was appointed Assistant Manager of Colchester United. Liam Bailey took charge of the First Team on

a temporary basis, only managing one game, which finished four-all against Tilbury on Boxing Day in 2015. Moving into 2016, exLeiston Manager, Steve Ball was appointed First Team Manager and steered the club to a respectable finish in the league table climbing to seventh place, only missing out on the play-off places by nine points. In the closed season, a change of Management at Colchester United saw Steve Ball appointed as their Assistant Manager, leaving his position of Maldon & Tiptree Manager as a result. Ex-Manchester City midfielder, Kevin Horlock was then appointed as First Team manager ahead of the 2016-17 campaign and for the majority of the season, the Jammers sat at the top of the table before slipping away to finish in second place. Horlock’s side managed to reach the play-off final, however lost to Thurrock one-nil. The following campaign was not quite as successful for Horlock, with Maldon finishing just outside the play-off places in seventh place, with sixty-nine points. After managing 112 games, Kevin Horlock departed in the closed season and was replaced by ex-Colchester defender, Wayne Brown. In Brown’s first season in charge, the 2018-19 season, the Jammers finished in second place and reached the play-off final, but lost on penalties against local rivals, Heybridge Swifts. The 2019-20 season was one to remember for the club, but for the right and wrong reasons. The club achieved great things in the Emirates FA Cup. Having reached the First Round proper of the competition, Maldon beat League Two side, Leyton Orient away from home, taking over 600

fans to the home of The O’s, with the goals coming from Danny Parish and a superb solo goal from Jorome Slew. In the second round proper, Maldon were drawn against Football League side, Newport County with the game being shown live on National Television– with the Jammers only beaten by the League Two side, with a goal in stoppage time, with the game finishing 1-0. A record attendance of 1876 was recorded. However, the 2019-20 season will also be remembered for the wrong reasons. After impressive performances on the field, the Jammers found themselves top of the Isthmian Division One North, thirteen points clear with four games in hand, when disaster struck. With a global pandemic declared, as a result of Coronavirus, the league competition was formally abandoned on 26 March 2020, with all results from the season being expunged, and no promotion or relegation taking place to, from, or within the division. The club were denied a chance of promotion and forced to remain in the Division One North for the 2020-21 season.

ED GARTY STEPPED DOWN AS CHAIRMAN IN OCTOBER 2020 Following the disappointing end to the 2019-20 season, Wayne Brown remained in charge of the club and wholesale changes in the playing squad occurred again, with a number of the previous season’s squad securing transfers to clubs higher up the football pyramid. The Jammers were dealt a big blow in October 2020 when owner and Chairman Ed Garty stood down from his position with immediate effect, ending a challenging ten years at the helm. After a period of uncertainty for

the football club, General Manager Ron Dangerfield was confirmed as the new Chairman, with Richard Cowling taking ownership of the football club. Just like the 2019-20 season, the 2020-21 campaign was terminated with promotion and relegation denied for all the sides competing in the Division One North. However, prior to the curtailment the Jammers had reached the Emirates FA Cup First Round for the second successive season, this time losing to Morecambe 1-0 in front of the television cameras. Brown’s side also achieved their longest ever run in the Buildbase FA Trophy, eventually losing to Gloucester City. The Jammers were only able to play in five league games, finishing in third place before the season was curtailed. Heading in to the 2021/22 season, Wayne Brown remains in charge of the first team and is now the club’s longest-serving manager, holding the record for the most games managed in charge of Maldon & Tiptree Football Club.

The former Ipswich Town, Colchester United, Hull City and Leicester City defender now in his third season in charge of the club. A nononsense, uncompromising leader on the pitch, the “Browny” played over 350 professional matches in a successful career spanning over 14 years and earned promotion to the Championship with the U’s before going on to play in the Premier League with Hull. Over the last few seasons, Wayne has masterminded several impressive cup runs, including reaching the FA Cup Second Round and First Round respectively in the last two seasons whilst holding an impressive league record.

An experienced shotstopper is now in his fourth season at Park Drive, Ben has more or less been an everpresent since Wayne took charge of the first team. Australian-born, Ben has previously had spells with Dagenham & Redbridge, Braintree Town and Northampton Town to name just a few. McNamara’s leadership skills have been crucial to the side over the last three seasons.

A young goalkeeper who joined the club on loan from Colchester United in September 2021, having previously had a short loan spell with Holland FC. Collins arrives looking to further his taste of senior football, as he continues to develop his career. Collins has been with the U’s throughout his youth, having joined their under U10s age group from Wivenhoe Town.

Stokes is a central defender with a winning pedigree. Having arrived at Park Drive from Bowers & Pitsea in the 2019/20 season, Martyn is the club’s first team captain and will continue to bring an important level of experience to the side, having previously won promotion from the Isthmian League Division One North with both Brentwood and Bowers, respectively.

A dominant central defender who joined from league rivals Tilbury last season before the campaign was brought to a close due to the coronavirus pandemic. Since joining, Turps instantly became a leader among the Jammers defence and will be looking to build on his positive start to life at Park Drive.

An attacking and versatile full-back who rejoined the club in October 2020 from Welling United for his second spell at Park Drive. During the previous two seasons, Kojo was an influential figure within Wayne’s squad as the club reached the play-off final in the 2018/19 season, as well as the top of the league and the Emirates FA Cup second round last term.

Khanye, known as ‘Macca’, joined the club from Faversham Town in the summer of 2020. The defender started out at Brentford before spending time on the books of Bristol City, Erith & Belvedere, Greenwich Borough, Staines Town and Whitehawk. Macca now moves into his second season to the club, hoping to avoid the injuries that hampered his appearances last year.

Taylor is a young, but commanding, central defender who has previously been with Aldershot Town and Charlton Athletic where he was released in the summer of 2021. Supporters will recognise Harry as he has featured for the Jammers throughout pre-season.

An attacking, versatile defender who signed for the Jammers on loan from Colchester United, where he has been since being a part of the U’s U15s team. Lordon has become a regular in Wayne Brown’s side so far during his loan spell.

A young defender who joins the contingent of Colchester United loanees within Wayne Brown’s side. Martins joins the Jammers on loan having signed for Colchester at the end of September 2021, adding further competition for places within the squad.

Another young addition to the Jammers squad, Deago arrives at Park Drive having been released by Leyton Orient. Plying his trade traditionally at full-back, Deago will be looking to force his way in to the starting eleven.

Bradley is a former Leyton Orient central midfielder who was named as Orient’s 2018/19 Youth Player of the Year before joining the Jammers in the summer of 2020. He played a pivotal role in the club’s run to the Emirates FA Cup first round before losing to Morecambe. One of the team’s leaders who was an ever-present last season, he will be keen to continue his good form in 2021/22.

Williams-Bushell heads into his second season at Park Drive after impressing in the last campaign, scoring several Goal of the Season contenders. Aaron has shown his versatility whilst being at the club and will look to cement his place in Wayne’s starting eleven this term.

A familiar face to many at Park Drive, Sam rejoins once again from Colchester United. The lively central midfielder has had previous spells at Park Drive and was instrumental in the team last season that recorded our longest-ever run in the FA Trophy.

An experienced centreforward who joined the club in July 2020 having previously played for the likes of Bowers & Pitsea, Grays Athletic and Great Wakering Rovers. Shomari is a fast and athletic forward who was the Jammers’ jointleading goalscorer in last season’s short campaign.

Scott heads into his second season at Park Drive after joining from local neighbours Witham Town in 2020. He made the move having scored 14 goals in 2019/20 as Town’s captain. Comfortable across a number of forward positions, Kemp will be looking to improve upon his goals and assists tally in 2021/22.

A name all supporters will know and remember well, Charlee rejoins the Jammers after a season away from Park Drive at Wealdstone. Hughes featured heavily in the 2019/20 season when Brown’s side reached the FA Cup second round. During his first spell with the club, Charlee recorded 30 goals and is only 11 behind the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.

A fans’ favourite, toughtackling, controlling midfielder, Laste returns for the 2021/22 season after having a short break away at Haringey Borough. In his first spell in the club, Dombaxe appeared over 50 times and was instrumental in the Jammers leading the way in the Isthmian Division One North and reaching the Emirates FA Cup second round.

Gilbert, an energic midfielder, joins the Jammers following previous spells with Met Police, Aylesbury United and Whyteleafe. John has previously been on trial with a number of professional academies and arrives at Park Drive looking to force his way back into the professional game.

Maliq arrived Park Drive in August 2021, having recently been with Crawley Town. Amongst his previous clubs, Jikiemi includes Walton Casuals, Aldershot Town and Sutton United. The attacking wide-man has featured heavily throughout pre-season for the Jammers.

Jayden arrives at the club having previously had spells with Concord Rangers and Grays Athletic. Some supporters may recognise him following a stint on the hit ITV show, The Only Way Is Essex. With a loud voice in the dressing room, Jayden’s leadership qualities will be key for the Jammers this season.

A young and exciting forward who arrived in August 2021 on loan from Colchester United. Bryan is set for a bright future and will look to adapt quickly to his first taste of men’s first team football. Previously, Ifeanyi was with Leyton Orient’s academy.

Lowe is an attackminded player who has previous experience with Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace. Lowe has featured for the Jammers throughout pre-season and will be keen to make a quick impression on the club’s supporters.

Malachi is an exciting and tricky forward who has previously been with Oxford United and Woking, whilst also spending time on loan at North Leigh, Hampton & Richmond Borough and Macclesfield Town. Napa made his professional debut for Oxford in 2017 in the EFL Trophy. In his youth career, Napa also spent at Reading.

Standing at an imposing 6’ 7”, Moses joined the Jammers in September 2021 from league rivals Tilbury. His previous clubs also include Basildon United and Cheshunt, where he achieved promotion scoring in both the play-off semifinal and final. Brian will certainly bring extra height and physicality to Wayne’s squad.
