WAYNE BROWN GOOD AFTERNOON AND WELCOME TO PARK DRIVE FOR ANOTHER CUP MATCH. I WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND A WARM WELCOME TO HAYDEN AND HIS KINGSTONIAN TEAM, ALONG WITH THEIR SUPPORTERS AND TODAY’S MATCH OFFICIALS.

Tuesday was a tough test for the lads, but we knew it would be. Tilbury are a good and physical side, who try to intimidate you on the pitch and the game was probably a bit tougher for us, coming off the back of the Haringey match and the FA Cup draw. I was pleased to get back on track in the league and make a good start to the game, we found ourselves in a great position after 25 minutes. What impressed the most on Tuesday is how we managed the game throughout the second half, the players won their individual battles and we limited Tilbury to very few chances. It is clear that the positive and winning environment we currently find ourselves in is helping the boys, as we had five fresh faces in the starting eleven however it didn’t impact upon our performance. Joe Turpin made his debut for the club and I thought he was exceptional in what were potentially difficult circumstances, in a side that he has only just left. Today’s test against Kingstonian will be another tough one, however it is another opportunity for the boys to try themselves against an opposition from a higher division. We are beginning to replicate lasts years run of fixtures in terms of the amount of cup games we have, however that is inevitable

when you have been successful. Kingstonian will come to Park Drive and will be well organised, it will be another tough encounter, but the squad has stepped up to every test so far this season, so fingers crossed they can produce another cup-upset! Obviously, the FA Cup draw has taken place and I am disappointed that our fans will not be able to join us for the game, however I do understand the decision the FA have made and everybody’s health is paramount. It is brilliant to be handed another home tie and I am sure Morecambe are not looking forward to the trip to face us. There will be no pressure on us, the pressure will be on Morecambe. It is important that we enjoy the game, however we will be trying our best to put our own stamp on the game, just like we did last year and fingers crossed the lads can put on another show for this football club. I am sure you are all disappointed you won’t be with us next week, but your support throughout last and this season has been immense. SHOMARI BARNWELL PICKED UP WHERE HE LEFT OFF WITH A GOAL AND ASSIST Maldon & Tiptree continued their unbeaten run with a 3-1 win over top of the league Tilbury.

Boss Wayne Brown made several changes from Saturdayâ€™s FA Cup win over Haringey Borough - Sam Coombes was missing through injury whilst Shomari Barnwell was rewarded with a place in the starting line-up, at the expense of Adam Vyse. Sam Cornish stepped into defence alongside debutant Joe Turpin, in place of Coombes and Billy Cracknell. In midfield,

The Jammers started brightly against a Tilbury side who boasted a 100% away record in the league heading into the fixture. Maldon were rewarded after just seven minutes, with great thanks to silky footwork from Barnwell. As Barnwell latched on to a superb through ball, he danced his way around goalkeeper Harry Girling and slotted the ball in to a now-empty net.

Maldon’s bright start got even better after just 14 minutes. Smart work from the tricky Hamza Kaid released Barnwell down the right-hand side of the defence. Barnwell turned from scorer to provider, as his cross into the box landed at the feet of WilliamBushell who curled the ball into the net to give his side a two-goal lead. With the game being played at a fast pace, both teams created opportunities to score more goals and it was Tilbury who scored next, courtesy of an unfortunate own goal. There was smart play from the Dockers’ Lewis Smith who unleashed a shot that was going wide before it struck the unfortunate Martyn Stokes to fly past the helpless Ben McNamara in goal. The one goal clawed back did not affect Maldon, however, who continued to create chances, as Kaid found himself one-on-one with Girling, only for the visiting shot-stopper to be equal to the effort. In the 28th minute, Maldon restored their two-goal lead thanks to Scott Kemp’s first league goal of the campaign. A cross from the left from make-shift full-back Alfie Mason landed at the feet of Kemp who took one touch before blasting the ball beyond Girling in goal.

SCOTT KEMP GRABBED HIS FIRST GOAL OF THE SEASON Tilbury showed evidence as to why they are top of the league and continued to threaten with striker Brian Moses hitting the crossbar when perhaps he should have scored. On the stroke of half-time, the woodwork rescued the home side again as a strike from Olakuwon Ogunwamide deflected off the post for a goal kick. After the electric first half, the second half failed to live up to the dramatics. A slight tactical change from Maldon appeared to nullify the visiting attack who, like many other teams this season, struggled to create any real goalscoring opportunities. In fact, it was Maldon who could have perhaps extended their lead, however Tilbury defenders threw themselves in the way to deny Kemp his second goal of the evening. Barnwell turned provider again, this time to Alfie Mason, who was unable to turn home his effort from close range to the delight of the Tilbury defenders who had left him free at the back post. Mason appeared determined to make up for his miss, though, as he then saw a spectacular, thunderbolt effort from long range unfortunately rattle off the crossbar.

Whilst Tilbury continued to press and look dangerous from set-pieces, the Maldon defence stood tall, helped by debutant Turpin who produced a performance to remember against his former employers.

WHEN DID YOU PLAY FOR THE JAMMERS AND WHO WAS IN CHARGE? I played for the Jammers in the 2012/13 season under Terry Spillane and assistant, Jody Brown. BEST PLAYER YOU PLAYED WITH WHILST WITH MALDON? This is a difficult one as the side we had was full of very talented players, the likes of James Robinson, Chris Bryan, Lewis Dark â€“ the list goes on. But, if I had to pick one, it would be Ollie Berquez, although he was getting on a bit at the time, he was still incredibly fit and was quality on the ball. He was great in the changing room, also!

WHAT IS YOUR BEST MEMORY, WHILST PLAYING FOR THE CLUB? Going on an unbeaten run at the start of the season, for 20+ games for me – the changing room was buzzing every single week. WHAT IS YOUR WORST MEMORY WHILST PLAYING FOR THE JAMMERS? After a good start to the season, the second half of the season was the worst for me. We went in to January top of the table, twenty points clear. I’m not really sure why, but a lot of players were brought in to the team and we didn’t do so well after that. Grays, as everyone knows, went on a brilliant unbeaten run of their own and beat us to the title. We then made it to the play-off final, losing in a penalty shoot-out where I don’t believe anyone scored but for me. It was another disappointing day. AWAY FROM PARK DRIVE, YOUR MOST ENJOYABLE MOMENT IN FOOTBALL? Scoring my first professional league goal at the Hawthorns, away to West Brom in front of over 20,000 wasn’t bad. That said, winning the treble with my local Sunday side, The Marquis has to top it. WHAT TEAM ARE YOU PLAYING FOR NOW? OR IF YOU’VE STOPPED PLAYING, WHAT ARE YOU UP TO, THESE DAYS? I’m not playing at the moment, I keep trying, but I keep getting injured. I struggled for fitness of late, but I guess that is to be expected when you have a metal rod and four pins in your left leg, ha ha! I’m now married with two little boys, working in the construction industry.

The Kingstonian club came into being in 1919 as a result of the merger between Kingston Town FC and Old Kingstonians FC. However, the club can trace its origins even further back and celebrated its centenary in 1985; the reason for this is that one of its forerunners, Kingston & Surbiton YMCA FC played its first match on a ground in Bushy Park in November 1885. In 1887 the YMCA changed its name to Saxons FC. Then in 1890 it changed to Kingston Wanderers FC and once again to Kingston-on-Thames Association Football Club (KAFC) in 1893. Unfortunately, in the early 1900s there was trouble in the camp and in 1908 the club split in two with Kingston Town playing at Norbiton Sports Ground and Old Kingstonians on what became known as the “back pitch” at Richmond Road. The new Kingstonian set-up started life in the Athenian League, a competition that it won in both seasons 1923/24 and 1925/26, playing its home matches at a brand new ground in Richmond Road that remained its home until 1988. In 1929 the Kingstonians, widely known as

the K’s, accepted an invitation to join the Isthmian League as a replacement for the Civil Service FC, and remained in that league until 1998. The K’s have a credible history and their blue ribbon period of the early 1930’s produced players such as Frank Macey, Doug Whitehead, George Lee and the Whittaker brothers achieving in April 1933 its then greatest accolade by winning the FA Amateur Cup which well and truly put Kingstonian on the football map. Wins over Portland United (after a replay), Leyton, South Bank, Dulwich Hamlet, and Whitehall Printeries took the K’s through to the final, staged at Dulwich, against Stockton, which resulted in a 1-1 draw. For the replay Kingstonian had to travel to Darlington, but despite going one goal behind after only four minutes, the K’s came back to win 4-1 thanks to goals from Gibson, Urpeth (penalty) and Whitehead (2). In the following season, 1933/34, K’s bowed out of the Amateur Cup in a second round replay to Wimbledon

at Plough Lane, but went on to successfully win the Isthmian League, a feat they repeated in season 1936/37 and, of course in 1997/98. In season 1959/60 it seemed as though the Amateur Cup was going to return to Kingston as the legendary Johnny Whing headed K’s into the lead against Hendon in the final at Wembley Stadium. Two goals in the last three minutes, though, had the FA officials busily changing the red and white ribbons for green and white ones as Hendon won the cup for the first time. To qualify for the final, Kingstonian disposed of Histon, Letchworth Town, Ferryhill Athletic, Carshalton Athletic, and Crook Town in a semi-final tie played at St James’ Park, the home of Newcastle United. The Kingstonian teams of the early 1960’s were arguably as good as those of the 1930’s and many trophies were won. After winning the Surrey Senior cup for the 9th time (as Kingstonian) in 1967, the club’s successes dried up and despite the endeavours of many managers and countless players, the team went into decline. In 1979 relegation to Division One was suffered, but in 1985 the club bounced back as runners up to Farnborough Town. K’s were a mite fortunate as Leatherhead, who finished above them on goal difference, had three points deducted for fielding an ineligible player. Kingstonian remained as members of the Premier Division until the end of the 1997/98 season when promoted to the Nationwide Conference. The famous Richmond Road ground, which was loved by so many, became increasingly dilapidated and subject to vandalism, so a decision was made to relocate and develop the site for housing - a move that also assisted the club’s finances. The last game played there was in January 1988 against Bromley. After one and a half season’s ground

sharing at Hampton’s Beveree ground. K’s opened their brand new Kingsmeadow Stadium (on the site of the old Norbiton Sports Ground) in August 1989, when Slough Town were the visitors. After achieving a draw with Peterborough United in 1992, the club recorded a fine FA Cup win at Kingsmeadow by beating Brighton in 1994; they also competed well the following year against Plymouth. In front of 3,495 supporters the K’s held Leyton Orient to a 0-0 draw only to lose 2-1 in the FA Cup 2nd Round Replay in 1998. Drawn away to Luton Town in the First Round of the FA Cup in October 1999 saw the K’s come in at half time 1-1 only to go down 4-2 at the end. At the beginning of the 1997-98 season, the club appointed Geoff Chapple as manager. He brought about an exciting change of fortune for the club. In his first season, he took the club to the Isthmian League Premier Division Championship. In the following season, their first in the Football Conference, the club finished a creditable 8th, but they capped it all off by winning the FA Trophy at Wembley in May 1999 with a 1-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers. The following season 1999/2000, in the last FA Trophy Final between the famous Twin Towers, the K’s retained their title with an exciting 3-2 win over Kettering Town, giving Chapple his 5th FA Trophy Final win in seven seasons (the other three with Woking). The club also reached their highest position of 5th in the Conference. However, season 2000/2001 proved to be extremely mixed. The K’s made the headlines again with a tremendous run in the FA Cup. A home win against Devizes Town was the start of an incredible run that saw the K’s defeat Brentford, Southport and Southend United all away from home. In the Fourth Round, K’s were thwarted in the last kick of the game at Ashton Gate as Bristol City scored a very last gasp equaliser before

winning the replay at Kingsmeadow in a live televised match. Unfortunately, the club’s league form proved to be exactly the opposite, as the K’s finished next to bottom and were relegated back to the Ryman Football League. Season 2001/2002 and it was time again for a change, as the club and Geoff Chapple parted by mutual consent. Kingstonian quickly appointed former Dover Athletic man Bill Williams as their new manager, who had working alongside him former Tottenham Hotspur player Steve Sedgley as his assistant. In late 2001 Williams departed the club and Sedgley moved up to the position of manager and his assistant was Kim Harris who was promoted up from the position of reserve team manager. December 2002 saw the sudden resignation of the highly promising Sedgley as manager. The club immediately promoted Harris, a former K’s striker, to manager and appointed former Woking man Scott Steele as player/coach. The club had ups and downs over this period but only failed to make the new Conference South following a single goal defeat to Lewes in a Ryman League playoff. Following a poor start to season 2004/05 Harris decided to call it a day after just four games. Scott Steele was promoted to manager but, despite encouraging good football from his side, was unable to prevent what became an inevitable relegation to Division One. However, good news arrived off the field when local businessman Jimmy Cochrane bought the football club, giving the club a positive outlook for the first time in several years. Steele’s resignation followed towards the end of the season when former assistant manger Ian McDonald was brought in along with Stuart McIntyre as his coach with a view to resurrecting the club’s fortunes.

The 2005/06 season saw K’s move up the table only to miss out on playoffs on the final day of the season, though silverware was achieved following a 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon in the Surrey Senior Cup Final. McDonald was almost immediately succeeded by McIntyre as manager, whilst the club was jointly bought by Mark Anderson and Malcolm Winwright – the board would be completed by the presence of John Fenwick as chairman from May 2011 to June 2014 and then co-chairman with Anderson and Winwright until January 2018, when he became sole chairman again. Stuart McIntyre’s time as manager was unfortunately short-lived and unsuccessful, and midway through the 2006/07 season he was replaced

But it was in the Ryman League Division One South that the biggest success came, as a very strong start and a storming finish led to Kingstonian winning the division by seven points ahead of Cray Wanderers. After an absence of four years, the club almost passed straight up through the Ryman Premier Division, recovering from a difficult start to reach the end of the season playoffs. It was Boreham Wood, however, who won the controversial final match. Heartache followed in the following 2010/11 season when a final day collapse at Margate cost another attempt at the playoffs. The following two seasons saw mid-table finishes in the league accompanied by successive London Senior Cup final

The 2008/09 season was successful from start to finish. A run to the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup was highlighted by a 4-0 home win over Conference South team Braintree Town, all four goals scored by midfielder Dean Lodge. This performance led to the K’s player winning the Performance of the

The 2016-17 season proved to be a difficult campaign, as the club flirted dangerously with relegation thanks to a dreadful run following Christmas; with six games left and hopes almost lost, Tommy Williams was replaced as manager by former Billericay Town man Craig Edwards. He turned the club around immediately and K’s moved up to 16th after a five match unbeaten run to end the season. K’s left the Kingsmeadow Stadium at the end of the season and moved to Fetcham Grove with Leatherhead FC; Edwards resigned in October 2017 and was replaced by former Whyteleafe manager Leigh Dynan. At the beginning of the 2018-19 season, Kingstonian moved back to the Royal Borough of Kingstonupon-Thames and started a ground share with Corinthian-Casuals at King George’s Field. A difficult season saw K’s have three managers, as Leigh Dynan was replaced by Dean Brennan and then very quickly by stand-in manager Kim Harris - K’s moved from second place in the table on New Year’s Day to escaping relegation by a single place after a horror run of results.

There was plenty of expectation for the 2007/08 season, though inconsistency led to the K’s missing the play-offs once again on the final day of the season.

With former K’s midfielder Tommy Williams installed as manager, the club again reached the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round, losing 3-2 to a last minute goal against Eastbourne Borough. The league campaign was a roller-coaster, a late challenge for the play-offs falling short in the last couple of weeks of the season. In his second season, the 2015-

The 2019-20 season may have been curtailed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but new manager Hayden Bird’s arrival gave the club an enormous boost, and the K’s supporters were rewarded amply with fine runs in both the FA Cup and the FA Trophy - the club reached the First Round of the FA Cup for the first time since 2000-01, and defeated Macclesfield Town 4-0 at Moss Rose in Round One before bowing out in Round Two at home to AFC Fylde on a day that saw the club host that afternoon’s edition of BBC Football Focus. Their FA Trophy run also ended in Round Two but was most notable for a fine 3-1 victory over Alan Dowson’s Woking team at King George’s Field.

IN CHARGE HAYDEN BIRD Hayden was appointed to the role of first team manager in May 2019 after he decided to end a massively successful time as manager of Merstham. Hayden, who has also had success as manager of Croydon Athletic, Carshalton Athletic and Bromley, joined the Moatsiders in January 2012 and subsequently took the team to unprecedented success, including the FA Cup First Round in 2016 (when they played Oxford United in front of the live BT Sport cameras), four consecutive Surrey Senior Cup Finals between 2015 and 2018 (winning in 2016 and 2018), promotion from Division One South in 2015 via the play-offs and in the season just finished, he took his team to the Premier Division Play-Off Final.

CORIE ANDREWS FORWARD A young and exciting forward, Corie started his career in Crystal Palace’s academy. After signing a professional contract, he had a loan spell in 2016 with Margate and then on New Year’s Day played once for Kingstonian. He joined Whyteleafe during the 2019-20 season and then returned permanently to the K’s in the summer of 2020. KENNY BEANEY MIDFIELD Very experienced midfielder who joined the K’s from Merstham in the summer of 2019 and is also part of the coaching team as player-coach. Previous clubs include Dulwich Hamlet, where he was captain of their promotion winning team in 2018, Wealdstone, Beckenham Town, Grays Athletic and Thurrock. ELLIOTT BUCHANAN FORWARD An experienced and prolific striker, Elliott rejoined the K’s in the summer of 2020, eighteen months after leaving the hoops for an ultimately successful spell with Dorking Wanderers, who he helped to win the Isthmian League in 2019 and the National League South play-off final in 2020. He began his career with Stevenage Borough, and had spells with Hayes and Yeading United, Newport County, St Albans

City, Chelmsford City, Bromley and Staines Town, for whom he won the Isthmian Premier Golden Boot in 2018. ANDRE COKER MIDFIELD A former Crystal Palace junior, Andre joined Maidstone United on loan from the Eagles in January 2018. He made the move to the Stones permanent in the summer of 2018, but after there was a change of manager he was loaned out to Dartford in October 2018. After the loan at Princes Park, his contract was cancelled in the summer of 2019, whereupon he moved to Hayes Lane and joined Cray Wanderers. After impressing for the Wands, he moved clubs but not grounds as he joined Bromley in December 2019 before moving to Kingstonian on loan in February 2020.Upon his release by the Ravens, he made the loan move a permanent one in the summer of 2020. OLLIE COOK DEFENDER Former Fulham and Southampton junior, Ollie joined Kingstonian from Merstham in the summer of 2019. Ollie was a regular in the Saints’ Under 23s team and played for them in the Football League Trophy on four occasions – after a loan spell in the National League with Barrow, he moved to the Moatside in 2018 after being released by Southampton.

SIMON COOPER DEFENDER Simon joined Kingstonian from Merstham in the summer of 2019. Formerly with Carshalton Athletic, Guildford City, Chipstead and AFC Croydon Athletic, he joined Merstham for the second time in November 2016, and has plenty of Isthmian Premier and Southern League experience. KADELL DANIEL MIDFIELD An exciting winger signed from Margate in the summer of 2020. He started his career with Crystal Palace, and moved to Charlton Athletic in 2013. He was loaned out to Hayes and Yeading United, then Torquay United in 2015 before joining Woking for the 2015-16 season. He then spent half a season at Welling United and afterwards moved to Dulwich Hamlet in the summer of 2016. He moved to Leatherhead on loan in 2016, a move made permanent in January 2017. At the end of that season he joined Dover Athletic and played 56 games at the Crabble before joining Margate in 2019. A Guyanese international, Kadell made his international debut in 2015 and has so far made 11 appearances for Guyana, scoring twice. BEN HARRISON DEFENDER Ben began his career with AFC Wimbledon, joining the club at the age of ten and progressing to the first team, making seven appearances. He had a month’s loan at Tonbridge Angels in 2016 but suffered a bad knee injury. In 2017, Ben joined Merstham and in the summer of 2019 moved to Kingstonian. Currently on loan at East Grinstead Town.

TUTU HENRIQUES DEFENDER Tutu, who is also Hayden Bird’s assistant manager, joined the K’s from Merstham in the summer of 2019. He was a Moatsider for six seasons, having joined Merstham in 2012. Previously this experienced defender made over 300 appearancs for Bromley and also counts Carshalton Athletic as a previous club. TOM HOWARD MIDFIELD A former Chelsea academy player, Tom joined the Blues in 2002 at their Under 8s level, and went on to represent Chelsea at ever level up to Under 21s. He helped Chelsea to win the FA Youth Cup in 2012, but was not offered a professional contract and left the club. He then joined Metropolitan Police, but at the same time became a coach in Chelsea’s academy system, a post he has held since starting the job in 2013. He also had playing spells with Merstham and Ashford Town (Middlesex), but sat out last season before joining Kingstonian in the summer of 2020. TEO KURTARAN DEFENDER / MIDFIELD Teo was captain of Hanworth Villa’s under 18s team that reached the FA Youth Cup Second Round in 2019, where they were beaten by AFC Wimbledon. In Round One, he scored twice in their 3-2 away win at Gillingham. The Dons subsequently signed him, and he was part of the Dons’ team that reached the EFL Youth Alliance Cup Final, though sadly the final was never played due to the coronavirus. After impressing in pre-season, Teo joined Kingstonian in the summer of 2020.

TOM KAVANAGH MIDFIELD Now in his third spell with Kingstonian, having rejoined the club from Merstham in the summer of 2019. A Sutton United player in the Conference South, Tom joined the K’s in the summer of 2013 before leaving near the end of the campaign for Dulwich Hamlet. He was back in a K’s shirt after rejoining at the beginning of the 2014-15 shirt, but he moved to Merstham in 2015, enjoying four highly successful seasons for the Moatsiders. OMARR LAWSON MIDFIELD A quick winger who spent the majority of last season with Lewes, having joined the Rooks in December 2017 from VCD Athletic. Before his time at VCD, at Dulwich Hamlet and then two seasons at Canvey Island before his move to the Vickers. Omarr joined Kingstonian in February 2020. KEVIN NYARKO FORWARD A young forward who was in the same Hanworth Villa team as Teo Kurtaran that reached the Second Round of the FA Youth Cup, he also impressed in pre-season and earned himself a place in Kingstonian’s squad for the 2020-21 season. HARRY OSBORNE DEFENDER Started his career in the youth ranks with Charlton Athletic and had two loan spells with Sutton United in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. He then joined Welling United a year later and then moved to Hemel Hempstead Town and Bishop’s Stortford before joining Hayden at Merstham last season. At the beginning of this season, he swapped the Moatside for Cressing Road, but teamed up again with Hayden Bird at Kingstonian in October 2019.

LEWIS PEARCH MIDFIELD Exciting young player who signed from Merstham in the summer of 2019. Lewis signed for Merstham’s first team squad after impressing with the Moatsiders’ youth team. Lewis was an integral part in Kingstonian’s fine run to the FA Youth Cup First Round in the 2019-20 season.

the inaugural Under-18s Premier League in 2013. In 2014, he joined AFC Wimbledon on loan, making ten appearances in League Two for the Dons. He then had a spell with Aldershot Town, FC Kitzbuhel in the fourth tier in Austria, Walton Casuals, Welling United and finally Leatherhead before his move across the Mole Valley to Dorking Wanderers.

JERRY PUEMO DEFENDER Jerry moved to Kingstonian in the summer of 2019 from Farnborough. He began his career in the youth ranks of West Bromwich Albion and Scunthorpe United, he then completed a two-year scholarship with Aldershot Town before playing for Morecambe U23s for two seasons. At the beginning of last season, he moved from Morecambe to Farnborough and was a regular in their defence. Currently on loan at Bognor Regis Town.

FABIO SARAIVA MIDFIELD Fabio joined the K’s from Merstham in the summer of 2019, completing a third spell with the Moatsiders. He began his career with Merstham, and then joined Maidstone United in 2013. He was loaned back in January 2014, a return that was eventually made permanent. In 2016, Fabio moved to Woking and went on to make 75 appearances with the Cards before being loaned back to Merstham early in the 2018-19 season, another loan that was made permanent.

GUS SOW MIDFIELD Liberian-born Gus joined Kingstonian from Merstham in the summer of 2019. He began his career in the ranks at Crystal Palace and had loan spells with Finnish team FC Honka Espoo and Hampshire team Farnborough before joining St Albans City in 2015 upon his release by the Eagles. In January 2016, he moved to Dulwich Hamlet and from there he was a Lewes player, helping them win promotion to the Isthmian Premier in 2018. In the summer of 2018, he swapped the Dripping Pan for the Moatside. JUEVAN SPENCER DEFENDER A long-time Corinthian-Casual, having made well over 200

JUEVAN SPENCER appearances, he crossed to the dark side of King George’s Field in the summer of 2020 after an abortive spell at Chipstead cut short by the coronavirus. Previously at AFC Wimbledon, Salisbury City and Whyteleafe, Juevan is an attacking full-back. ROB TOLFREY GOALKEEPER Undeniably a Kingstonian legend, Rob holds the record for the most appearances made in goal for the K’s. Rob started his career with Crawley Town before spending one season with Whyteleafe and then securing a move to Horsham. In 2009, Rob moved to Kingstonian and has been the K’s number one ever since. Supporters’ Player of the Year on several occasions, including last season, Rob was recipient of a testimonial match against AFC Wimbledon in 2015. Reached 500 appearances for the K’s in the 2019-20 season and will hopefully break Micky Preston’s all-time Kingstonian appearances record of 555 sometime this campaign. MASON WHITNELL GOALKEEPER Talented young goalkeeper who first signed for the K’s early in 2020, and is a graduate of the Crystal Palace Foundation Academy in Beckenham.

CLUB HISTORY In 2009, Ed Garty took over the ownership of Maldon Town from Michael Kirkham, whilst still in charge of running Tiptree United and installed Alan Brockhouse as Maldon Townâ€™s new chairman. Following the takeover, Colin Wallington returned for a second spell in charge of Maldon Town, leaving his post as Tiptree United manager immediately. Colin previously managed Maldon Town from 2003 until 2007, having achieved promotion in the 2005-06 via the play-off final. Having left Maldon in 2007, Colin went on to manage Tiptree United where he achieved promotion winning the Eastern Counties Division One title in the 2007/08 season. Until the conclusion of the 2009/10 season both Maldon Town & Tiptree United played their home games at Park Drive, under a ground share arrangement.

In the summer of 2010, Maldon Town & Tiptree United amalgamated to form, Maldon & Tiptree Football Club, under the ownership of Ed Garty. As a result of the amalgamation, Tiptree United withdrew from the Essex Senior League, resulting in the clubs last ever fixture being a 3-1 defeat against Enfield 1893 on 24 April 2010. Maldon & Tiptree took the place of Maldon Town in the Isthmian Division One North. Following the retirement of Colin Wallington, Assistant Manager, Brad King and Glen Knight were appointed as the clubs Joint-Manager. As the pairâ€™s first managerial role, the new club witnessed wholesale changes with only a handful of players remaining who finished the season with Maldon Town and Tiptree United, respectively. The 2010-11 campaign saw the

new club remain in or around the play-off positions for the majority of the season, finishing in eighth place to finish the season with sixty-three points. Despite the high turnover of players, the good standard of football was maintained and it was in the end, a disappointing end to the season, for the club to fall away in the later stages of the season when suspensions and injuries eventually took their toll to leave the club frustratingly short of the play-off positions at the end of April. The 2011-12 season, proved to not be so successful and in November 2011, King and Knight were relieved of their duties with immediate effect. Ex-Charlton professional Mike Flanagan was appointed as Caretaker Manager and remained in place until the end of the season, steering the club to a respectful mid-table finish, managing thirtythree games and finishing with a win percentage of 49.12%.

At the start of the 2012-13 campaign, Ex-Stansted & Redbridge boss Terry Spillane was appointed as Manager, and Mike Flanagan departed the club. The change of management, once again brought wholesale changes with the playing squad. Ex Tiptree United manager, Jody was brought to the club as Terry’s Assistant Manager. After a fantastic and unbeaten start to the season, the club found themselves at the top of the table but an incredible run by eventual Champions Grays Athletic meant Maldon had to settle for a place in the play-offs – Terry’s side remained unbeaten until Boxing Day, when they lost away from home against local rivals Heybridge Swifts. Disappointment came in the play-off final however when they lost a two goal lead to draw with Thamesmead Town, who thenwent on to win the final,on penalties. After a disappointing end to the previous season, Terry Spillane oversaw more wholesale changes in the playing squad, including the departure of Assistant Manager, Jody Brown. Despite the changes, Maldon finished in ninth position with seventysix points, winning twenty-one games.

Mudmen and The Jammers available. The vote took place in January 2015 and was featured on National Radio station, TalkSport, with the The Jammers winning the vote with over 50% and being confirmed as the clubs new nickname. Following the completion of the 2014-15 season, the club linked with Colchester United and the two clubs formed close ties, which resulted in ex Ipswich Town midfielder, David Wright being appointed as First Team Manager. Wright remained in charge until December 2015 as he was appointed Assistant Manager of Colchester United. Liam Bailey took charge of the First Team on a temporary basis, only managing one game, which finished four-all against Tilbury on Boxing Day in 2015. Moving into 2016, ex-Leiston Manager, Steve Ball was appointed First Team Manager and steered the club to a respectable finish in the league table climbing to seventh place, only missing out on the playoff places by nine points.

More changes to the playing staff, resulted in poor start to the 201415 season, and the club parted ways with Spillane in September 2014, with Chairman, Ed Garty takeover as Caretaker Manager, for three games. At the end of September 2014, Alan Kimble was appointed as manager and remained in charge for the remainder of the season, however the side struggled and more changes in the playing staff occurred. Maldon finished the season in nineteenth place with only forty-nine points.

In the closed season, a change of Management at Colchester United saw Steve Ball appointed as their Assistant Manager, leaving his position of Maldon & Tiptree Manager as a result. Ex-Manchester City midfielder, Kevin Horlock was then appointed as First Team manager ahead of the 2016-17 campaign and for the majority of the season, the Jammers sat at the top of the table before slipping away to finish in second place. Horlock’s side managed to reach the play-off final, however lost to Thurrock one-nil. The following campaign was not quite as successful for Horlock, with Maldon finishing just outside the play-off places in seventh place, with sixty-nine points.

charge, the 2018-19 season, the Jammers finished in second place and reached the play-off final, but lost on penalties against local rivals, Heybridge Swifts. The 2019-20 season was one to remember for the club, but for the right and wrong reasons. The club achieved great things in the Emirates FA Cup. Having reached the First Round proper of the competition, Maldon beat League Two side, Leyton Orient away from home, taking over 600 fans to the home of The O’s, with the goals coming from Danny Parish and a superb solo goal from Jorome Slew. In the second round proper, Maldon were drawn against Football League side, Newport County with the game being shown live on National Television– with the Jammers only beaten by the League Two side, with a goal in stoppage time, with the game finishing 1-0. A record attendance of 1876 was recorded. However, the 2019-20 season will also be remembered for the wrong reasons. After impressive performances on the field, the Jammers found themselves top of the Isthmian Division One North, thirteen points clear with four games in hand, when disaster struck. With a global pandemic declared, as a result of Coronavirus, the league competition was formally abandoned on 26 March 2020, with all results from the season being expunged, and no promotion or relegation taking place to, from, or within the division. The club were denied a chance of promotion and forced to remain in the Division One North for the 2020-21 season. Following the disappointing end to the 2020-21 season, Wayne Brown remained in charge of the club and wholesale changes in the playing squad occurred again, with a number of last season’s squad securing transfers to clubs higher up the football pyramid.

THE SQUAD WAYNE BROWN First team manager Brown is a former Ipswich Town, Colchester United, Hull City and Leicester City defender, now in his third season in charge of the club. A no-nonsense, uncompromising leader on the pitch, Brown played over 350 professional matches in a successful career spanning over 14 years and earned promotion to the Championship with Colchester before going on to play in the Premier League with Hull. Wayne has also had a caretaker spell in charge of Colchester United’s first team. Last season, the Covid pandemic brough the campaign to an abrupt end with the Jammers sat 14 points clear in the league whilst he also guided the club to the Second Round of the FA Cup,

now gone onto higher leagues as well as being involved in the club’s famous FA Cup run last season.

ADAM FLINT First team coach Flint joined the club midway through the 2018/19 season and is a familiar face across the local football scene, both as a player and manager. A hugely valuable member of the management team, Flint brings a wealth of knowledge across non-league football in the region. Previously, he managed a competitive Witham Town team before being approached by Bishop’s Stortford to take over as manager in the Bostik Premier. Since joining Maldon, Adam has helped with recruiting a number of players who have

DAN HURWOOD First team analyst, Hurwood was previously a prolific striker in the Essex County league and is now a vital cog in the club’s management team. Dan records and analyses games, recording data to continually improve the squad both individually and collectively. OLLIE REARDON A young physio, Reardon is now in his second season looking after the first team. Ollie is in the early stages of his career and is gaining vital experience, alongside his work in the professional game.

BEN McNAMARA Goalkeeper An experienced shotstopper, Ben is now in his third season at Park Drive and has more or less been an ever-present since Wayne took charge of the first team. Australianborn, Ben has previously had spells with Dagenham & Redbridge, Braintree Town and Northampton Town to name just a few. McNamara’s leadership skills have been crucial to the side over the last two seasons, with Ben being named as vice-captain for the 2020/21 season. LANCE AKINS Defender A solid central defender and impressive leader on the pitch who, after countless impressive performances against the Jammers in the past, signed for the club in 2019. Lance made his name at neighbours Witham Town under current coach Adam Flint, before spells at Coggeshall Town, Tilbury, Aylesbury and Bishop’s Stortford, respectively. MARTYN STOKES Defender Stokes is a central defender with a winning pedigree. Having arrived at Park Drive from Bowers & Pitsea in the 2019/20 season, Stokes appeared 22 times last term before the campaign came to an abrupt end. Martyn is a superb leader and will continue to bring an important level of experience to the side, having previously won promotion from the Isthmian League Division One North with both Brentwood and Bowers, respectively. Stokes has been confirmed as the first team captain for the 2020/21 season.

NIRAN BUTLER Defender Butler is a powerful defender who joined Staines Town from Flackwell Heath in June 2019, where he had been since leaving Barnet’s youth set-up. Niran appeared 15 times for Staines in the 2019/20 season before it was cut short in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. MAKHOSINI RYAN-KHANYE Defender Khanye, known as ‘Ryan’, joined the club from Faversham Town. The defender started out at Brentford before spending time on the books of Bristol City, Erith & Belvedere, Greenwich Borough, Staines Town and Whitehawk. Makhosini has plied his trade predominantly as a left-back throughout his career so far. SAM COOMBES Midfielder Sam is a young midfielder, returning to Park Drive for his second spell with the club having previously appeared for the Jammers last season before a brief spell at Brightlingsea Regent. Prior to joining the club, Sam had previously been on the books of Southend United and spent time in at a football college in the United States. REECE SIMPSON Midfielder Reece is a midfielder who arrived at the club having previously played for Telford, Great Wakering Rovers and Bishop’s Stortford. Simpson featured for the club throughout the 2020/21 pre-season preparations, and will be an important addition to the side for the up and coming season.

RHAMAR GARRETT-DOUGLAS Defender Having previously been on the books of Barnet, along with spells at Bishop’s Stortford and Hullbridge Sports, Garrett-Douglas arrives looking to cement his place in the Jammers’ defence. Rhamar was a regular for the Barnet U18s side, and came through the club’s scholarship programme.

BRADLEY McCLENAGHAN Midfielder Bradley is a former Leyton Orient central midfielder, who was named as Orient’s 2018/19 Youth Player of the Year. McClenaghan was also the captain of the O’s U18s side before joining Bishop’s Stortford in the Isthmian Premier Division on loan in December 2019.

KRAIG NOEL-MCLEOD Defender 20-year-old Kraig is a 6’ 3” central defender. A former Queens Park Rangers youngster who has also represented the Grenada national team on six occasions, Noel-McLeod has also previously appeared for Hendon Town and Basingstoke prior to joining the club.

AARON WILLIAM-BUSHELL Midfielder Aaron joins the club having previously played for Waltham Abbey. AWB is a box-to-box midfielder who made his debut for the Jammers against Hertford Town in the FA Cup on in September 2019, scoring the winning goal to seal progress to the first qualifying round of the competition.

HAMZA KAID Midfielder 21-year-old Kaid is approaching his second season at Park Drive having joined in 2019 from Mousehole AFC in the Penisular Premier in Cornwall where he impressed in a title-winning side. Hamza has developed rapidly and impressed many last season as he appeared on 34 occasions, scoring six goals. Kaid is another young, talented player who we hope to help on his footballing journey. SHOMARI BARNWELL Forward Barnwell has joined the club for the 2020/21 season having previously played for the likes of Bowers & Pitsea, Grays Athletic and Great Wakering Rovers. Shomari is a fast and athletic forward who has fantastic experience of the Isthmian Division One North. The electric forward was also at Dagenham & Redbridge preciously, having earned a professional contract after an impressive start to his career at Bowers & Pitsea. SCOTT KEMP Forward Scott arrives at Park Drive from local neighbours Witham Town, where he scored 14 goals last season whilst performing as their captain. Kemp, aged 24 at the start of the 2020/21 season, has also featured for AFC Sudbury in the past. ALFIE MASON Forward Mason is a forward who joins the club from Bishop’s Stortford. He was a member of the Stortford U18s side that fought their way through to play Colchester United in the second round proper of the FA Youth Cup in 2017. Alfie has previously featured for Enfield whilst, as a youngster, he was on the books of West Ham United. ADAM VYSE Forward Vyse is an experienced striker who, last season, impressed whilst leading the line for Basildon United. Adam found the net on 14 occasions for the Bees during 2019/20. Previously, he has enjoyed spells with Great Wakering Rovers, Canvey Island and Tilbury.
