Visual Story for James and the Giant Peach

Visual Story James and the Giant Peach AF/Relaxed Performance, 6 December 2014 2.30pm, Dundee Rep Approx time 2hrs, including 20 minute interval.

This is Dundee Rep where you will go to see James and the Giant Peach.

When you walk inside the theatre, you may have to wait here for your ticket to see the show.

Once you have your ticket, you will need to walk into a bigger room called the auditorium. There are lots of seats and this is where everyone sits to watch the show.

People who work at the theatre are called ushers. They can show you where your seat is. The number on your ticket tells you what seat you must sit in.

The show should start at 2.30pm

It will get slightly darker, but the lights will still be on.

Seeing a show is like watching television, or a film, but the people in a show are on a stage and they are called actors.

It is okay if you need to leave and come back anytime you want during the show.

This is the room where you can chill out if you need to.

There will also be people there to help you if you need it.

This is James and he has to live with his two horrible Aunts

James will meet new friends and go on a big adventure.

You will have a lot of fun during the performance.

Sometimes it might be loud but don’t worry, nothing will hurt you. If the sounds are too loud you can put your hands over your ears, or wear your headphones (if you brought some with you).

After each song, some people will clap. Clapping is nice because it tells the actors you liked their song. If you want to clap, you can. You don’t have to clap if you don’t want to.

In the middle of the show, there is a break. This break is called an interval. During the interval is a good time to use the toilet and have a drink or a snack.

After the interval, everyone will come back and sit down in their seats again. It will get darker and quieter again just like at the beginning of the show. The actors will come back on the stage and finish telling the story of James and the Giant Peach.

In the second half (insert approx. time or prompt for parents), there will be a short time where you will see lots of bubbles. See how many you can catch.

Also in the second half at (insert approx. time or prompt for parents), there will be a large floating orange ball James will need help with. Maybe you will be able to catch the ball and get it back to him?

At the end of the show, all of the actors will come out on stage. Many people will clap a lot so the actors know how much they liked the show.

After the show is over, you will leave the theatre.

You might not leave the same way that you came into the theatre.
