DUNDALK’S exceptional efforts in welcoming the Giro D’Italia have been applauded by the event organisers. “It went beyond our expectations” said Pat O’Shaughnessy from Cuchulainn CC who was instrumental in seeing the Giro route pass through Dundalk. Pat was in one of the cars travelling into Dundalk and got an active on-the-road view of the town as thousands lined the streets to welcomes the riders. “We know the people of Dundalk are great but we were really blown away. It was just amazing,” he said. There were huge crowds at every juncture: hundreds in Kilcurry, thousands in Forkhill and Dundalk as well as more along the Dublin-bound route. “Every single person should be so proud

The closure of Killinbeg Golf Course has left members of the club in shock as efforts continue to ensure everybody gets back their membership subscriptions refunded. The club which is located just outside Dundalk in Killin closed with immediate effect last Tuesday without any notice given to their 170 members. Continued on Page 2
