A HOLE-IN-ONE in one is every golfers dream but unfortunately for most that dream rarely becomes reality as the odds are stacked against getting the little white ball into the hole in just a single shot. However, three local enthusiasts are celebrating after beating the odds on the same course at Killen Park in the space of a few short weeks. According to the Royal and Ancient “Golfers Handbook 2001” the chances of a male professional or top amateur scoring an ace are 3,708 to 1 against; a female professional or top amateur 4,648 to 1; and an average golfer no less than 42,952 to 1. Those odds make it all the more amazing that three

Byrne helps Ireland to Rules win By Paul Byrne
LOUTH GAA star, Ciaran Byrne did his country proud on Saturday night when he helped Ireland to victory over Australia in the International Rules clash. The game at Breffni Park in Cavan, saw the Louth Village man earn a starting place and he helped Ireland to claim victory on a 57 to 32 scoreline. Ciaran, who lines out with St Mochtas, will be hoping to complete the series victory when the teams meet in Croke Park on Saturday night. Full story on page 4
