Local representatives hit out at treatment of staff following closure of ‘Authentic Food Company’ Confirmation of the closure of the Authentic Food Company in Dundalk has been greeted with condemnation from local representatives who say staff have been treated badly by the company’s owners. After weeks of speculation it was finally announced on Friday that the company had closed due to financial difficulties. The com-
pany which is located in Finnabair Industrial Estate off the Inner Relief Road was set up in 2014 and produced frozen ready meals. It had a workforce of up to 180 people. The facility was formerly owned by Heinz but was taken over by the UK based ‘Authentic Food Company’ in 2015. Staff at the Dundalk facility received notice from the liquidators that the company was insolvent and unable to continue paying wages. Managing director, Continued on Page 2
