Plans to build a new county ground for Louth GAA in Dundalk have hit a speed bump after a number of councillors indicated that they would vote against the proposal ahead of last Monday’s monthly Louth County Council meeting. The Louth GAA County board took a major step towards finding a new home last month when they unanimously endorsed the purchase of a site adjacent to the former Heinz factory on the
Inner Relief Road. The 12-acre site consists of approximately nine acres which belong to Louth County Council and approximately three acres which belong to DkIT. The first stage of the development will allow a capacity of 12,000 into the ground although eventually there would be a capacity for 22,000 when the development is finished.
