Dundalk winning the battle against litter

THE chairman of Dundalk Tidy Towns praised the people of Dundalk for helping the town earn their ninth successive gold medal at the national awards in the Helix on Monday afternoon. Dundalk increased their points total from 306 to 309 and according to Willie Duffy the latest results are a credit to every business in the town who has helped improve their shopfronts and every person who has helped in the fight against litter. “The Dundalk Tidy Towns committee is made up of 16 people but these latest results are not just down to us. They are down to all the brilliant businesses that line the streets in the town and who have made the effort of keeping their shop fronts clean and putting out flowers to

brighten up the street. There are also 97 residents’ associations affiliated with us and they all do phenomenal work to help keep our streets clean. Four gold medals as well as bronze medals for Knockbridge and Ardee is an incredible return and is reward for a lot of hard work done by a lot of people,” stated Willie. “There was also a youth award for Dromiskin Tidy Towns while Blackrock won the Waste Prevention Award which were both very well deserved. Each year it gets harder and harder to improve our points total but we’ve managed it again and we’re absolutely chuffed.
