Dundalk FC hit the jackpot in Iceland last Wednesday evening as they beat Icelandic side FH Hafnarfjordur on away goals to secure a guaranteed €1.2m windfall. The Carrick Road outfit travelled to Iceland on the back of a slightly disappointing 1-1 draw in Oriel Park but thanks to a David McMillan brace the Lilywhites have reached the promised land in terms of Champions League prizemoney as they can add a cool €1.2m to last year’s pot of €550,000 they received after getting knocked out in the second qualifying round. Francis completes gruelling trek
By Paul Byrne ONE of the most challenging awards in Scouting, the Explorer Belt, was successfully negotiated by local man Francis Meehan after he completed the gruelling 200km trek across Italy last week. Francis, a scout leader is St Patrick’s Scout Group in Castletown, teamed up with Jay Kelly a scout from Tralee in Kerry to take part in the daunting challenge.
