Poor state of roads highlighted in video By Paul Byrne
A local man has produced a video highlighting the dire state of many roads and footpaths around the town while asking the question ‘Where is our road tax going?” Anthony O’Hagan produced the five-minute video recently after becoming annoyed at the sheer amount of damage on our roads in town. The video which features still photos highlighting damaged roads and footpaths all over town is accompanied with whimsical original background music produced by Anthony and he himself describes the video as ‘hard hitting in a soft way’. “The state of our roads
has become an annoyance to me in recent weeks and I decided to send a hard hitting message in a soft way by putting together this wee video. Basically I do not see anything more than anyone else. I only really saw the extent of those holes when I walked around in the past few weeks with a camera. “I have the sad mindset of knowing what can be changed and what cannot. Little things can be changed but not the big things. Poets and dreamers are quite mad. They want to make a better world in a very small way. So when eventually something sinks in with me I write about it or make a video”, explained Anthony. Continued on Page 9

YES campaigners celebrate Referendum victory.
By Eunan Whyte THE scenes that greeted the Yes vote in the marriage
referendum have been compared locally to Louth winning the All-Ireland in 1957 and the euphoria
surrounding Italia 90, as the result was celebrated in fitting fashion on Saturday. See page 2
