By Paul Byrne A young girl who is looking to raise funds for a life-changing operation displayed her courage and determination when she took part in the annual Fizter’s 5K on Saturday. There were cheers at the finish line as threeyear old Sophia Griffin crossed the finish line in her walker alongside her father, Gerry. Sophia’s dad had pushed Sophia around the course in her pram but the determined youngster managed to complete the last few metres in her walker
alongside Gerry. Sophia is three-anda-half and lives in Dundalk with her mother, Catriona, father, Gerry and brother and sister. Sophia was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy and PVL (Periventricular Leukomalcia) of the brain just after her second birthday in 2017. She has poor trunk control, and poor balance with abnormal gait and spasticity in both her legs. Sophia has many struggles with her balance and with walking. She has very low endurance and therefore Continued on page 2

Sophia appeals for help to get life-changing operation From Page 1 a lot which makes her determination to walk the last few metres of the 5K all the more impressive. According to Catriona, her daughter struggles with everyday things that most people take for granted. “She struggles with daily things like climbing stairs, getting dressed and walking. Sophia has to do physio every day, along with wearing AFO braces on both legs, a special Lymed garment for
seven hours everyday to help with posture just to name a few. “She falls three to four times a day with some falls being quite hard. In addition, she has a poor gait and poor endurance which is only going to get worse as she ages. And, not forgetting with spasticity can come painful spasms and deformities. Despite all of this she never stops smiling and is such a determined wee girl. We are so proud of her,” noted Catriona.
“We have followed Zoe Murphy’s progress and are delighted that she has reached her fundraising target. We know Zoe and her parents Lynda and Eamonn and we actually travelled to Dublin with them last year to meet with Dr. T.S Park from St Louis Missouri who carries out SDR surgery which is a revolutionary surgery in St Louis’s Children’s Hospital. “We were unsure if we would proceed with the operation or not as
we were being told by a lot of Irish doctors that the surgery was extremely dangerous and could potentially cause full paralysis. We decided to hold off a while and do some more research and having done that we have decided to go ahead with it. We began our fundraising efforts in January and after a slow start we are really gaining momentum know and we are going to do all in our power to try and raise the €100,000 needed

for this operation. “We have now finally been given the green light for the surgery. Dr. Park predicts that Sophia will walk better, with straight legs, have better balance and posture, and be able to play all recreational sports of which she can’t currently do. We have had so much support already with people doing marathons, three peak challenges and all sorts of fundraisers and we are so grateful for everybody’s help. There is a
long road ahead of us but we are determined to reach our target by May 2020 which is when she is booked in for the operation,” stated Catriona. Kilcurry residents welcome plan
From Page 1 Louth County Development Plan to allow the ambitious project to proceed. Great Northern Distillery started producing whiskey in Dundalk in 2015. Maturation is an essential part of the process of making whiskey and because of this they required warehouses to mature their whiskey. Following the purchase of a 45-hectare site close to St Brigid’s church in Kilcurry which was earmarked to build warehouses there was backlash amongst the local community who voiced their concerns about the size of the project as well as environmental and scenic concerns. An Bord Pleanála in recent days have rejected the Carrick Road firm’s final bid to build the facility on a 45 hectare site closed to St Brigid’s Church. Meetings between the concerned residents and GND failed to reach any agreement and it seemed that the distillery’s hopes of building these warehouses came to an end last June when Louth County Councillors opted not to materially contravene the Louth County Development Plan to allow it to proceed. The land in question was zoned for agricultural use and councillors would have to rezone it for industrial use for the development to proceed. GND appealed this decision but last week their efforts seemed to have been halted permanently when An Bord Pleanála rejected the company’s appeal, a decision which would seem to have put an end to this long running saga. A short statement from Kilcurry Concerned Residents welcomed the decision by An Bord Pleanala. Kilcurry Concerned residents welcome the decision made by An Bord Pleanála to REFUSE the proposed development of whiskey maturation warehouses in our community.

€2.7m Ardee Castle and Town Plan confirmed
Local Fine Gael TD, Fergus O’Dowd and Ardee Councillor Dolores Minogue have warmly welcomed the news that nearly €2.7million has been awarded to the Ardee Castle (€2.15m) and a regeneration plan for the town (€526k). O’Dowd said “Cllr Minogue and I have been working hard to progress the Ardee Castle project on behalf of residents and traders we have met with
along with numerous representations and meetings with Council Officials, Architects, Department Officials and the responsible Ministers. This has been a long road and this funding announcement represents a vote of confidence in Ardee and will drive tourism, jobs and connectivity for the town.” “The Castle itself is of major historical significance (also known as St. Leger’s
Castle), built in circa 15th century, is the largest fortified medieval tower house in Ireland and will be key to driving tourism into the town when complete. O’Dowd added “We brought Minister Josepha Madigan to the castle last year to sit down with the council and their architects to look at what could be achieved if funding was approved for the project. I have
also discussed the project and it’s merits on numerous occasions with Minister Ring directly to ensure the project was considered at the highest level. “I would like to thank the council for their detailed application and I’m really looking forward to the development of what will be a game changing project.” Cllr Minogue said “Ardee Castle is the jewel of our town
and this funding announcement confirms the government’s commitment to delivering a brighter future for the traders and people of Ardee. I have been working as your councillor to gather support for a new tourism and enterprise based plan for the town, this great news will further strengthen my calls which I hope will gather cross party support in the future. I would like to thank everyone in-
volved that has assisted in the campaign to breathe life back into the town of Ardee.” Minogue added “With construction of the long awaited Ardee By Pass scheduled to start shortly and this new regeneration town plan backed by the government we have a lot to be positive about and I will be continuing my work to bring tourism, jobs and a better quality of life for the people of Ardee.”

Events to celebrate St Patrick’s Day The line-up of great family fun and entertainment for St Patrick’s Day in Dundalk has been announced by the organising committee. Cllr. Conor Keelan, chairperson of the newly-formed group, said he was delighted with what has been planned as it caters for all tastes and ages and includes some exciting surprises. Musical and dance acts, which showcase some of the huge range of talent Dundalk has to offer, will be on stage at the Courthouse Square and at Earl Street and include Long Time Coming, Crystal Ice, McGee School of
Dance, Faoi Gheasa, Orwells 84, Cuchulainn Celtic Strings, Cobra Kan and Dundalk Brass Band. Cllr. Keelan, who is on the committee with fellow Dundalk councillors Maeve Yore, Ruairí Ó Murchú and Anne Campbell, said the committee was pleased with the buyin to the event from local groups. “Groups came forward when they found out what we were planning and were keen to take part. I think people appreciate that while there is no parade this year, because there wasn’t time to organise one properly, there will still be an open-
air, town centre event for Dundalk in 2019 which will allow families to come into the town centre and enjoy themselves’,” stated Cllr Keelan. In addition to the great line-up, a family fun zone will be set up at the Market Square, with plenty to keep children entertained. Access to the area is by wristbands, which can be purchased in advance at Stitchcraft, Earl Street. The cost is €6 or €20 for four. Every euro raised goes to the running of The Birches Services and their new Outreach Service in Grange, Carlingford. With the support of Dundalk Credit Union, Olive and her team can extend

St Malachy’s Girls Walking Bus
Pupils from St Malachys Girls NS taking part in the walking bus initiative
St Malachys Girls NS are currently on the second year of the Green Schools Travel Flag which they hope will be awarded at the end of the year. In February every year, Green Schools Ireland launch a nationwide “Big Travel Challenge” to encourage schools to increase sustainable transport for 10 days in February. The school had to increase one mode of sustainable transport and they chose Park ‘N’ Stride as a number of pupils come to school by car each morning. Simultaneously to the "Big Travel Challenge" they entered the SEAI OneGoodIdea competition in November. The school set up a committee of pupils in 4th and 5th classes to come up with one good idea to save energy. As
they were working on the Travel Flag it was decided that a walking bus would be a good idea to set up. St Malachys submitted the application and SEAI loved the idea and put them through to the national semi finals. This meant the Dundalk school had to move from having the idea of a walking bus to actually setting it up. Fifth class pupils helped design and create the front and back of the bus. Fourth class pupils came up with a song and made posters to inform parents and pupils about the bus. They got the bus up and running on Thursday, February 7 and started out with about 80 pupils and have maintained numbers between 65 and 85 each day.
Pupils can use the bus everyday or some of the days. Students meet at the post box in Tesco Car Park between 8:30 and 8:50 each morning. They travel along the zebra crossing in the car park, past McDonald’s, crossing at the auctioneers. They cross at the traffic lights to go up Vincent Avenue, down Wynne’s Terrace and cross Anne Street to school. It’s a 1/2 km walk each morning. Pupils love meeting their friends in the morning and walking to school. There is great camaraderie on the bus and it puts everyone in good spirits. Due to popular demand the school will continue with the bus on our WOW (Walk on Wednesday) days each week.

Coalan makes impressive start to season
Caolan Rafferty got his 2019 season off to an impressive start by reaching the semi-finals of the South African Amateur Championship. After finishing tied second in the two round strokeplay qualifying competition Rafferty continued to impressive as he marched through four rounds of matchplay before losing by one hole to South Africa’s Jordan Duminy in the last four. “I was gutted to lose on the last hole of the semi-final but I am very happy with the way I played all week. There were a lot of birdies and eagles and very few bogeys all week. The game is in good shape so I have more positives to take from the week than the defeat in the semi-final.”
Having spent January focused on his business exams at Maynooth University, where he is a Harrington Scholar, the trip to South Africa as part of the GUI national panel was an opportunity for Rafferty to ease himself into 2019 with the sun on his back. “I would have taken hand and arm off you if you had offered me the week I’ve just had before coming out. I have competed against a field of top class players and reached the semi-final.” Rafferty’s stats for the week were pretty impressive, He completed 116 holes and recorded three eagles, 36 birdies, 70 pars and seven bogies and only failed to complete one hole all week.
“My scoring was really good. If it had been a strokeplay event I would have been around 35 under for the week so I am really looking forward to next week and hopefully continuing my form. However, you never know what is going to happen in golf. It’s a funny old game and next week could be a complete disaster,” he concluded. Next week’s tournament is the South African Amateur Strokeplay at De Zalze Golf Club where Rafferty will be hoping to continue his climb up the World Rankings and cement his place in the World’s top 50 as well as continuing to press his claims for a place on the Britain and Ireland team for the Walker Cup in September at Hoylake.

Migrant integration strategy The ongoing work being done by Louth and Meath county councils to formulate a new Migrant Integration Strategy needs to lead to real change and positive engagement at a community level, Sinn Féin councillors have stated. Cllr. Ruairí Ó Murchú and Cllr. Anne Campbell were speaking following a workshop at County Hall on Tuesday where they joined a number of other councillors, as well as service providers including Louth Leader Partnership, Department of Social Protection, council officials and migrants’ representatives for the event. The integrated planning meeting, which was facilitated by Blu Zebra Ltd and KW Research and Associates, was part of the development of a joint Migrant Integration Strategy (2019-2022) for Louth and Meath. The workshop focused on local issues that need to be addressed and local solutions to those problems and was part of a series of engagements across
Sinn Fein councillors Anne Campbell and Ruairi O’Mhurchú.
Louth and Meath to develop the strategy. Through consultation, the strategy focused on broad themes including employment and economic development; education and training; active civic and civil participation; engagement with service providers and addressing discrimination and racism.
Cllr. Ó Murchú said the workshop was a ‘useful exercise’ as it gave council officials, councillors and other service providers the opportunity to hear first-hand about migrants’ experiences in Louth. He said: ‘It was a useful exercise that allowed service providers to hear for themselves
some of the concerns of the migrant community. People spoke powerfully about the need for the council to ensure they lead the way in really helping to integrate the vibrant migrant population in Louth into all aspects of life. ‘The council needs to engage with communities across Louth in the places migrants feel comfortable, able to speak freely about their experiences and ideas. ‘The only way this is going to work is if State agencies, voluntary and sporting groups put real migrant integration at the heart of what they’re doing, so people feel confident and assured their ideas and participation in civic life can make a difference. Cllr. Campbell said: ‘We heard at the workshop from migrants who felt this could be just another box ticking exercise to develop a strategy that never really goes anywhere or makes an impact at a local level. We are looking forward to seeing the final strategy document and helping to achieve its implementation’.

Song for Maria Goretti Children’s Respite Centre
‘We all need someplace where love is not a question, where love is all we do... and I have found that place.’ So sing the children who attend RehabCare’s Maria Goretti Children’s Respite, Lordship, Dundalk. In an original song and accompanying video they reveal what day-to-day life is like at the centre, part of the Maria Goretti Foundation. The video focuses
on music therapy sessions and the colourful new outdoor instruments dotted around the gardens. Give It Up for the Lordship Family was written by Sinead McNally and recorded at Black Mountain Studios by Peter Baldwin. RehabCare’s Maria Goretti centre provides a holistic service, supporting both child and family, in a home from
home environment for children with Autism, intellectual disability or physical and sensory disabilities. The children, who currently range in age from six to 18 years, are referred to the service by the Louth HSE Respite Referral Team. The service currently provides respite care for up to 12 children each week. Nestled in peace and tranquillity, the centre rests on the shores of the Cooley
peninsula, sheltered by high mountains, with sweeping views right down to the sea. It’s a perfect setting for those who need solace and understanding in their young lives. Warm, welcoming, and colourful, each child receives a high level of care. RehabCare is the health and social care division of Rehab Group, it was established in 1995 and today supports
more than 3,000 people throughout Ireland each year. RehabCare employs over 1,000 staff who provide a wide variety of responsive health and social care services to people of all ages and from all walks of life. If you would like to support the RehabCare Maria Goretti Children’s Respite centre contact: 042 93 73136, or email: info@mariagoretti.ie.
Official Opening of Stephenstown Pond Playground this Sunday The official opening of Stephenstown Pond Playground will take place this Sunday (3rd March) at 2:30pm. The opening will be performed by Chairperson of Louth County Council, Cllr Liam Reilly. The new playground opened to the public earlier this month and has so far proved very popular with children who have visited thus far. Work on revamping the playground took place either side of Christmas and the new
playground includes a fairy wall which your child can get their name painted on for just €5 for a full year. Stephenstown Pond has become a very popular spot for both children and adults since it opened to the public in July 1996. The initial work encompassed the clearance and development works on what today is known as Stephenstown Pond Carp Fishery & Nature Park. Phase two opened in 2000 with
the Burns Cottage and Children’s Playground and phase three in 2007 with the new build of the new Dairy Maid Coffee Shop, Conference Centre (seats 120 people), training rooms, Enterprise space for leasing and the newest edition “Spinning With Kelly” (fitness centre). All are welcome to attend the official opening of the upgraded playground this Sunday at 2:30pm.

Gardai issue St Louis teacher investigates health of students warning on Momo Challenge
Gardaí in Louth have issued a warning to parents to watch out for a game which encourages bullying amongst young children. The game called the ‘Momo Challenge’ is currently doing the rounds on social media and is targeting young children and vulnerable people. It has been stated that the game makes contact with children through social media and allegedly asks the person they have contacted to perform dangerous tasks including self-harm. The statement released by gardaí in Louth urged parents to be vigilant when handing over devices to their children. “There is a disgraceful “game” doing the rounds on social media platforms at the minute, some of you may have heard of “momo” which appears to target children or vulnerable people. The momo challenge is a form of cyberbullying where momo asks to be contacted through a social media site and then asks the person to perform a series of dangerous tasks including self-harm. There is a disturbing image of momo online that parents should make themselves familiar with. Please please please always supervise your children or those that are vulnerable while online. As parents, It’ss all too easy sometimes to hand over a device to a child for that few minutes peace but there can be devastating consequences if they are left un-supervised.
PE teacher, Jenny Spain, recently graduated from Maynooth University with a First Class Master’s degree in Education. Jenny Spain from St Louis School in Dundalk, began investigating the health of students in her school in 2015 when she joined a teacher’s network in North Leinster which focussed on Teaching and Learning in the 21st Century. Initial findings proved fruitful and motivated Jenny to pursue research at Masters Level where she spent a further two years monitoring fitness of students in St Louis school. Teaching methodologies recommended by fellow researchers in Ireland and globally were incorporated into the PE curriculum along with whole school initiatives designed to help students lead healthier more active lives. Work was ‘action research’ based which involved identifying a problem from one’s own context and through collaborating with others explores
strategies of overcoming the issue at hand. “In recent years I have observed an increasing number of students entering school from primary level who were overweight and lacked fitness. My observations followed similar and worrying statistics found globally. Physical inactivity is the fourth leading risk factor for global mortality with major implications for the general health of the population worldwide. Preventable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer, and their risk factors of high blood pressure, obesity and high blood glucose have been increasing over the last 30 years and continue to do so at dangerous levels. In Ireland type 2 diabetes accounts for 11% of all deaths which according to the Department of Health is higher than both European and global averages. “Life for adolescents in Ireland today is very different to thirty years ago. Data from studies
Jenny Spain conducted within Ireland show how sedentary children have become and as a result of this, their health is a real concern. I worked with students in my school to understand how different lifestyles are nowadays. The increasing dependence on technology is a central factor and which is contributing to students in my school from leading healthier lives. Our throw away ‘I want it now’ culture also means adolescents view
life very differently to adolescents in the past and this has a huge bearing on their motivation,” continued Jenny. “Learning is a twoway street. This project allowed me to collect data from students which brought me to a new level of understanding and employ strategies in the classroom and across the school. Learning experiences led to a change in attitudes and behaviour among students result-
ing in improved health both individually and collectively. A change of ‘mindset’ is necessary to adopt new habits and for some students to see beyond their potential. Action research is a continually evolving process. “I hope work, which has been initiated over the past two years, will continue to evolve and develop in order to positively influence the health of more students in the Dundalk area as well as families and friends in a much greater context. “Technology is not going away. The marketing of food and drink detrimental to health is likely to become more sophisticated and lifestyles will continue to become more hectic. It is therefore paramount that students in St Louis school and their families are educated sufficiently in order for them to make suitable choices to impact health positively. Children are open to learning and the students at St. Louis school
are passionate and driven when they can be sufficiently inspired. Society across Ireland can lead students to make poor choices and Dundalk is no different. You have only got to look at the area directly surrounding St Louis School to see the factors which can impact health negatively. The young women in our school are capable of changing the Dundalk of today in order for future generations to live a healthier more active lifestyle. I am realistic to know that this is not an easy task, but I believe it is also, not impossible. Without good physical and mental health life is much more challenging and brings with it many more problems. “Belief, action and support along with determination, commitment and resilience are key factors in achieving nearly anything and which I hope to see more evidence of in the years ahead to truly bring about better health for all,” she concluded.

Julie was one of five St Louis students who achieved an A at JC level in the subject. Speaking after the event Joanne Hughes said: “This is a lovely event. The Business Studies Teachers Association of Ireland hosts this every year. We can only bring one student to the event but
we make sure to have a presentation in the school afterwards to celebrate the success of all the girls who have done so well.” Principal Michelle Dolan and Deputy Principal Mary Gilmore presented the other girls with their certificates in the school the Esther Ibilola receiving her award from Mollie Toner receiving her award from Natasha Kearney receiving her award Mary Gilmore from Mary Gilmore next day. Eva Harmon, Mollie Michelle Dolan Toner Esther Ibilola and Natasha Kearney were delighted to be part of the successful group. Principal Michelle Dolan said: “Our third years last year had exemplary results in every subject so it is lovely to see this acknowledgement from a Teachers’ Association. We offer three subjects at LC level in Business – Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics and there is a high uptake of all three.”
Captain’s Drive-in at Dundalk Golf Club
The 2019 Captain’s Drive-In took place on Sunday with Pat Davis and Criona O’Reilly completing their formal inauguration watched by members, family and friends. We wish both the very best for their year in office. There was a full programme of competitions to mark the occasion. In the morning, as part of the Winter Series there was a Gents Champagne Team of Four competition and it produced a close finish with Conor McClenaghan (21), Sean Gallagher (21), Micheal Markey (18) and Damian Garland (7) returning a score of 72pts to win by one from Shane
McGuinness (11), Michael Begley (19), Lee Egan (28) and Peter Fitzpatrick (14). In the afternoon there were Scotch Mixed Foursome competitions down the front and back nines. The Front Nine competition was won by Gerlandine Mohan (31) and last year’s captain Gerry Byrne (19) while Theresa O’Mahony (33) and Liam O’Mahony (18) took the Back Nine event. Caolan Rafferty made an excellent start to the season last week when he reached the semi-finals of the South African Amateur Championship and we wish him well in the South African Strokepaly
Championship which runs from Tuesday to Friday this week. It was a good week for the Rafferty clan as Caolan’s cousin Kyle was the nett winner in the Race to 59 series at Corballis Links in Donabate. He shot a nett 63 to edge out Dundalk team-mate Josh Mackin by one stroke. The new Social Committee are starting off their year with a Table Quiz on Thursday, February 28 at 8pm. It’s €20 per team and there might be the odd spot prize, so it’s not to be missed. Please come and support this fun evening.

According to Amy’s dad and coach Tony this latest title is very special to his daughter as it’s the first at senior level. “Amy is obviously over the moon following her victory and the fact that this is her first ever national senior ti-
tle makes it that little bit more special. She has now won both the Irish and English Elite championships and already this year she has become Irish U22 champion, Swedish Girl Box Champion and now Elite Senior Champion. “We’re all very proud
of Amy as she continues to put in so much hard work despite getting no funding whatsoever from the IABA. In any other country in the world she would receive a grant but in Ireland there is no recognition for all she has achieved so far.
There are girls who have achieved nowhere near as much as Amy getting €12000 in funding and I’m delighted for them but I just can’t see why Amy is being ignored. As always she went into these championships fully prepared and she boxed brilliantly in her semi-final against Shauna O’Callaghan who is from the Clann Naofa club in Dundalk. It was a bit of a grudge match but Amy fought brilliantly and won very well to set her up for the final. “She didn’t box quite as well in the final but she did more than enough against a game opponent and was a fully deserving winner,” stated Tony. There will be little time for Amy to sit back and take stock of all she has achieved this year to date with the 21 year old Southpaw flying to Russia this Monday to defend her European Championship title.

Fianna Fáil TD for Louth Declan Breathnach has received a response to a Parliamentary Question raised in relation to the provision of a Park & Ride facility on the M1 Co. Louth at two busy interchanges (J16 Dundalk South and J14 Ardee) where cars are parked dangerously near these junctions on a daily basis. A facility is also required at J17 (N53 Castleblayney). “I have today received a response from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) to say that they have provided an allocation of €300,000 to Louth County Council for a proposed park and share facility close to Junction 16
of the M1 motorway. “They go on to say that consultants have been procured by the council to progress planning and design work on the scheme and they say that subject to planning approval, they hope to commence construction before the end of the year. “This is great news, and something I have been requesting for years. I hope that the funding announced is sufficient and that it will indeed commence and come into operation in the shortest time-scale possible. I will continue to request similar facilities at the busy J14 and J17 interchanges,” he added.

Futuristic New Peugeot 208 Celebrating 208 years of automotive excellence, PEUGEOT has unveiled the first images of the new 208 range, ahead of the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Available from launch with a choice of petrol, diesel or electric powertrains, the new 208 breaks new ground with the latest-generation i-Cockpit and 3D head-up display, together with a range of driving aids usually reserved for prestige models. Due in Ireland in early 2020 and asserting a youthful, energetic image, the new 208 boasts a sleek, quality design and high-end look that is perfectly in keeping with the PEUGEOT brand’s upmarket strategy. In terms of traditional combustion engines, the new 208 is available from launch with a choice of 3 petrol powertrains (1.2 litre 75bhp S&S manual, 1.2 litre 100bhp S&S manual or 8-speed automatic and 1.2 litre 130bhp S&S 8-speed automatic) and a 1.5 BlueHDi diesel 100bhp S&S manual, each compliant with the latest stringent EURO 6 emissions controls. Built on PEUGEOT’s new CMP production platform, CO2 emissions are reduced through weight reduction (30 kg lighter), improved
The new Peugeot 208
aerodynamics and reduced roll resistance. The platform also provides for greater acoustic and thermal comfort on board and lower vibration levels. The new PEUGEOT e-208 offers a lively, stimulating driving experience with its 100% electric engine, also available from launch. Interior and boot-space are identical to the Internal Combustion Engine versions; the batteries are distributed under the floor pan. The 100 KW (136 bhp) electric engine develops 260 Nm of torque from 0 km/h, for instant reactivity. With three drive modes on offer, (Eco, Normal and Sport), the e-208 delivers 0 to 100kmh in 8.1s in Sport Mode. Range is up to 340 km, in accordance with the latest WLTP (World-
wide harmonised Light vehicles Test Procedures) certification. This battery is guaranteed for 8 years or 160,000 km. The new PEUGEOT 208 is longer, wider and lower than its predecessor, revealing a distinctive bodyline and clean, taut lines. Wide shaped wings, body curves, a paredback windscreen and a longer, sculpted bonnet underscore the sporty look, whilst the familiar PEUGEOT full LED 3-claw headlight signature, dependent on trim, is immediately recognisable. The front bumper contains a perfectly-integrated, single outlet radiator grille in the centre, bearing the iconic PEUGEOT Lion. The tip of the bonnet shows off the 208 badge.
