Teenage volunteers at a popular charity fundraiser found themselves at the centre of a Halloweeen nightmare after being subjected to physical assaults over the weekend. A number of young people reported being kicked, punched and spat at by members of the public whilst volunteering at “Frightfest” organised by Fitzpatrick’s bar and restaurant in aid of Lordship’s Children Respite Centre. The annual event is one of the highlights of the local Halloween and contributes thousands to charity. However, it turned out to be a horror evening for some of the volunteers. The shocking incident occurred at Fitzpatrick’s Bar and Restaurant on Saturday
night, while teenagers and children who were giving up their free time, volunteering for charity, were attacked by members of the public who were visiting the Halloween attraction. As a result the organisers and volunteers were being forced to consider their future involvement. Danny Fitzpatrick, the man who organises the event for charity, said that it was a disgrace and some of the volunteers were in tears over the treatment they received from people visiting the attraction. Danny took to Facebook to write about the events that happened. Fitzpatrick says that he is rethinking all the Halloween fright nights for the rest of this year as he could not put people's kids in this type of fear and torment.
