Both Dealgan and Clann Naofa Boxing Club’s were celebrating European success over the weekend as three local boxers came back from Hungary with medals. Dealgan’s Amy Broadhurst boxing in her final competition as a youth was crowned featherweight champion of Europe as the 2015 EUBC Women’s Youth and Junior championships came to a close at the SportHall in Keszthely, Hungary on Saturday. Amy’s club team-mate Orla Garvey and Shauna O’Callaghan of Clann Naofa both came home with silver medals having just come up short against Russian opponents in the Junior feather and lightweight classes. Fleadh success in Sligo By Eunan Whyte Traditional musicians from Dundalk are celebrating another successful trip to Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann after returning from Sligo with a number of top prizes. As always the Comhaltas Craobh Dhún Dealgan was well represented at the annual event and their performances were rewarded with success for James White, Fionnuala Donlon and Sárán Mulligan. It was also a memorable few days for long-serving member, Brendan Gaughran, who was honoured with a lifetime service award. James White cemented his place as one of the top young musicians in the country as he claimed a third successive All-Ireland crown, this time in the 12 to 15 years piano accordion category.
