Tributes have been paid to Robert McLoughlin who died in the early hours of Saturday morning when he was struck by two cars as he was crossing the road to get to his house on the Old Newry Road. The 29-year old had just got out of a taxi when the incident occurred just after 3am. The road at the scene was immediately closed to allow gardaí from the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit examine the scene. Tributes to Robert were led by one of his best friends, Cllr John McGahon who is the current chairman of Dundalk Municipal District. “Robert was a close friend of mine and a very popular member of our community. Garda warning to parents By Eunan Whyte Gardai are calling on parents to take responsibility for the actions of their children over the Halloween period.
