A 15-year-old student from the Grammar School has just returned from a lifechanging trip to Kenya where he helped improve the lives of starving children in a small village called Embu. Tom Bell from Annagassan made the decision two years ago to travel to Africa having seen on television the appalling conditions and hardships many Africans have to contend with in their everyday life. Tom was eager to help out so he got in touch with the Moving Mountains organisation which aims to help people enjoy equality and equal opportunity. To help raise funds for the trip he offered to work for free in local establishments Riva and Panama in return for a donation to

Work on cycle track to start by summer By Paul Byrne Construction on the new BMX track and Cycling Velodrome could start as early as this summer according to secretary of Cuchulainn Cycling Club Karl Dolan. Planning permission had already been granted to Cuchulainn cycling club for the facility on land off Hoey’s Lane by Dundalk Town Council back in 2013 when a 150-year lease of a 5.3 acre site located adjacent to Muirhevnamor Community and Sports Centre was approved. However since then Cuchulainn Cycling Club has become a registered company (to improve their chances of receiving funding) which meant that the proposal had to be put in front of Louth County Council once more at February’s meeting.
