By Paul Byrne

There were terrifying scenes at Sunday’s annual Blessings of the Graves ceremony in Dowdallshill as a car drove at speed through the crowded graveyard. A man was seriously injured in the incident while a number of others received minor injuries. The man who was injured is a grandfather and was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda with a head injury before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital.

After the incident, the dark coloured car drove out of the cemetery and collided with a number of parked cars on the road outside before coming to a stop. 28 year old James McDonagh from Glenmore Park in Muirhevnamor was arrested at the scene. He appeared in Drogheda district court yesterday morning and has been remanded in custody to apear at Cloverhill District Court next Tuesday. See Page 2
