residents in Bishops Court have vowed to continue fighting against the erection of a 38kv ESB sub-station directly beside their homes on the site of the new Coláiste Chú Chulainn school which is currently being built at the Marshes in Dundalk. Kay Corbett and her husband Desie will be directly affected by the location of the new sub-station as it will be adjoined to their back wall. According to Kay it is not just the fact that they will be waking up to see an eyesore in their backyard each day that is bothering them. It is the more important issue of health for themselves, their neighbours, family and friends which is the burning issue.

“We have had several interactions with the project management on this matter but their response is that we had the opportunity to object when the plans were on public display before permission was granted, and that we had failed to do so,” explained Kay. “Therefore the plans cannot be changed by moving the sub-station. We cannot understand why on a huge site like this the sub-station has to be located on the only tiny section that adjoins our homes. “As we have pointed out to the project management, planners must have regard to the protection of the health of citizens. Adrian suspect due home One of the main suspects in the murder of Det Gda Adrian Donohoe is expected to be deported from the United States before the end of this week. The man, who said to be in his 20s and from South Armagh, fled to New York shortly after the murder and is understood to have been working in the construction industry. It is believed that he was arrested by immigration officials after he overstayed his visa. It has been reported that he spent the past few days in the Hudson County Correctional facility in New York.
