The lack of available accommodation in Dundalk is having a negative impact on the local economy according to a respresentative of a prominent company and lcoal politicians. National Pen training co-ordinator Kevin Adams has highlighted the everworsening accommodation crisis around Dundalk stating that workers are actually turning down jobs in the company due to the lack of suitable houses to rent around town. According to Kevin spiralling rents and a lack of suitable accommodation are forcing many of National Pen’s workers to set up home in Newry and Portadown. “We hire a lot of employees from overseas and it costs us a lot to bring them to Ireland and set them up with bank accounts, PPS and accommodation.
