A proposal by Louth County Council Chief Executive Joan Martin to write off a €1.3m debt from Drogheda hosting the Fleadh has been rejected by the majority of councillors. During Louth County Council’s monthly meeting on Monday afternoon councillors voted by 14 votes to 9 against the Chief Executive’s proposal. According to Fianna Fail Councillor Conor Keelan, 14 councillors rejected Chief Executive Joan Martin’s proposal at a monthly meeting held on Monday, June 21. “Nine voted for it and six councillors were absent. I voted against the proposal because I feel it would be a large financial imposition,” said Conor. Continued on page 2
Maria proud to raise flag for LGBTQ+ community—The Pride Rainbow Flag which represents the LGBTQ+ community was raised over the town hall last Thursday as recently appointed Cathaoirleach of Dundalk Municipal District Maria Doyle made the decision to raise the flag during Pride Month. Cllr Doyle said that the raising of the flag represented a symbol of solidarity to the LGBTQ+ community in Dundalk.
