The people of Dundalk came out in force for the ‘Feet on the Street- Against the HSE’ which took place last weekend. The march which started at Thomas J Clarke Park on Linenhall Street and finished up at The Square was organised by a group of concerned people in Dundalk who organised the rally in solidarity with those who have been affected by the cervical cancer scandal which has come to light in recent weeks. Lisa Marie Hodgins McMasters, one of the organisers of the event was delighted with the turnout and promised that this is only the beginning of a long campaign to ensure that both
the Irish government and the HSE are held accountable for their actions. “We had a great crowd marching with us on Saturday and they did so in a very respectful and dignified manner. This was not a political protest. We are not affiliated with any party. We are just ordinary Joe Soaps who have had enough of the systematic failures of our health system. “These failures are costing lives and we have had enough. It’s one thing sitting at home and giving out about it but there comes a point where you feel that you need to try and get out there and make a statement.
