The kind-hearted community in Omeath are close to fulfilling the promise they made to neighbours to see them return to the home that was destroyed by fire earlier this year. Last February a fire gutted the home of Omeath residents Paddy and Alisha McKevitt. The couple had only recently returned to Ireland having lived in America for many years. Paddy was at work at the time and thankfully Alicia escaped relatively unscathed. However, the house was destroyed along with everything the couple owned. Over the last number of months the community of Omeath has come together

to help the couple in any way that they could. Paddy and Alisha’s neighbour Ciaran Phillips thanked everybody who has helped so far and gave an update on a fundraiser for the couple which will take place in the Grandvue in Omeath this Saturday evening. “It would make you proud to live here in Omeath and be surrounded by good people both here and in the surrounding areas. Paddy and Alisha have been astounded with people’s generosity. “When disaster struck back in February the couple had just moved back from America, so Paddy could spend time with his aged mum.
