Really Terrible Explanation Louth GAA supporters angry over apparent snub from national broadcaster By Paul Byrne

Louth GAA chairman Peter Fitzpatrick has demanded answers from RTE over what he calls a boycott of Louth football from the national broadcaster. The Louth senior football team are having a brilliant season under the guidance of Mickey Harte and with just one round of league fixtures remaining (against Dublin this Sunday in Croke Park) in division 2 they have a chance to become the first side ever to win successive promotions from Division Four all the way up to Division One. Despite this, Louth has not been featured at all this season on The Sunday Game which
show highlights of GAA matches each Sunday evening. Last Sunday the show’s presenter Joanne Cantwell told viewers told viewers that RTE were unable to send anybody to cover the Louth v Cork match as DEFY Páirc Mhuire in Ardee was unsuitable for RTÉ cameras. That claim was furiously denied by both Fitzpatrick as well as St Mary’s chairman Mickey Rooney. “I simply cannot accept that explanation from RTE,” stated Fitzpatrick. “TG4 have already covered a game in Pairc Mhuire this season and they were nothing but complimentary about the facilities in Ardee and how well they were treated.
