Dundalk filmmaker Aislinn Clarke will rub shoulders with the rich and famous at the Oscars next month after receiving an invite for the exclusive event. Aislinn, who hails from Fatima, has been invited to the glitzy awards ceremony off the back of receiving the UK Academy Gold Fellowship for Women back in October. The award is part of AMPAS’ Action: The Academy Women’s Initiative, which launched in 2018 to support
emerging female filmmakers. Sponsored by Swarovski, it gave Aislinn a £20,000 bursary, as well as a year-long mentorship scheme from the Academy. Aislinn made waves internationally in 2018 following the success of her debut feature film, The Devil’s Doorway. The former pupil of Gaelscoil Dún Dealgan and Colaiste Rís saw her debut film being very well received by critics around the world. Last day for election nominations
Today is the final day that potential candidates can put themselves up for nomination in next month’s general election. So far 13 candidates have put their names forward for election.
