School’s charity fundraiser
The brutal killing of a very young pup has been described by LSPCA inspector Fiona Squibb as the “most callous act of animal cruelty” she has ever come across. The tiny brown puppy, who Fiona believes was between six to eight weeks old, was kicked down the Castletown Road like a football by a group of four schoolboys last Friday morning before a passer by intervened and took the badly injured chihuahua cross to the vets. However, the tiny dog’s injuries were so severe that it had to be put down by local vet Anna Pietrzyk. A nation pays tribute to hero Tony By Paul Byrne The devastated communities of Omeath and Blackrock were joined by a grieving nation in paying an emotional farewell to Gda Tony Golden and also showing their support to his heartbroken family and Garda colleagues. The village of Blackrock came to a standstill on Thursday for the State funeral of the popular Garda who was murdered while responding to a domestic dispute in Omeath the previous Sunday. Up to 4,000 Garda colleagues lined the streets in Blackrock as Gda Golden’s remains were removed. Full Story Page 2
