TALKS are ongoing between Louth County Council officials and representatives from the Traveller community as the fallout from the Woodland Park evictions last Friday afternoon continue. Vice chair of the Louth Traveller movement Rebecca Quinn was due to meet with council officials yesterday afternoon with her solicitor Eleanor Kelly but that meeting did not go ahead as the council said it was not aware that the families were to be accompanied by political and legal representatives. It was later agreed to reschedule the meeting yesterday afternoon with legal representation from both the council

and Travellers present. Rebecca who lives on the site says there are currently four families still in Woodland Park including five children and a woman who is pregnant and insisted that they need to be provided with emergency accommodation by the council or face homelessness. Woodland Park was previously an official halting site for many years, but was closed in 2008 when the council stated that there was a lack of interest among the Traveller community in using the site. Electricity and water supplies were cut off at the site. However, since last April Travellers have once again started using Woodland Park as a halting site with Continued on Page 6

Brothers Conor and Robert Oliver led their heroes, Manchester City, on to the field on Saturday and they certainly proved to be lucky charms as they inspired the team to a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.
