Two local women are proving that age does not have to be a barrier to anything as Dundalk’s version of the ‘Golden Girls’ are still going strong at 90 years young. Agnes Mackin and Jean Newell are showing no signs of putting their feet up as they continue to offer their time and expertise to charity shop Oxfam on a daily basis. With almost 60 years service to Oxfam between them it is fair to say the town’s most experienced shop assistants have played a huge part in Oxfam’s continued success in Dundalk and according to both women they have loved every single minute working in the charity shop. Local woman escapes Paris terror A LOCAL woman is counting her blessings after surviving the horrific terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday night. Katie Healy, from Blackrock, was attending the Eagles of Death Metal concert in the Bataclan Theatre when the terrorists struck, killing 89 people. Speaking about the traumatic experience, Katie explained that she and her boyfriend, David Nolan from Cork, survived by ‘playing dead’ and making a miraculous escape when a door opened near them.
