AS the country counts the cost of the damage caused by Hurricane Ophelia, the local community has been plunged into mourning following the tragic death of a local man. Father-of-two, Fintan Goss, lost his life when a tree struck his car as he was returning home from work at approximately 2.45pm on Monday. The 33-year-old from Ballymakellet, Ravensdale, who was a member of a wellknown and popular local family, was travelling on the old Newry Road when the incident occurred. Fintan is survived by his wife, Pamela, and two children, the youngest of whom is just one month old. A member of St Patrick’s GFC, he is the youngest son of John and Mary Goss and is also survived by his brother Colin and sister Maria. Fintan’s older brother, Ronan, also died tragically in 2000. Many tributes have been paid to Fintan since the tragedy. See Page 2
