Attempts by the County Council to help businesses deal with the issue of rates have been praised but there have been calls to do more in an effort to boost the local economy. The recently announced retail incentives by Louth County Council, the Small Business Support Scheme and the New Business Incentive Scheme have been hailed by business owners and politicians as an important step forward, but the consensus is that more needs to be done. This week, Deputy Peter Fitzptrick sparked debate when he stated that he would be calling for an amnesty for businesses in Louth that are currently in arrears. See Page 2

Pupils and staff at Kilsaran National School are celebrating an All-Ireland title after claiming first place in ‘An Féile Scoildráimíochta’, and Irish language drama competition. The Fifth Class students, under the guidance of teacher Maistir Ruairí, produced an unusual look at the legend of Setanta by adapting it to a cowboy/Western theme. Preparations began in January with rehearsals commencing in earnest in March. The young actors and their crew took to the stage for the first time at the DKIT Mac Anna Theatre Full Story on Page 2
