By Paul Byrne The two female pedestrians who were tragically killed on Monday evening in Hunterstown have been named as Josie Duffy (79) and Kathy McDonald (70). The accident happened on the road outside the Hunterstown Inn on the N2 at about 6.30pm. The women were first cousins and had just got off a bus when they were struck by a vehicle while trying to cross the road to the car park of The Hunterstown Inn. Josie and Kathy were from Ardee town and were well known locally for their tireless work for local charities including the hospice and the Irish Wheelchair Association. Local councillor Jim Tenanty said the town of Ardee
was in shock having heard about the tragic passing of the two popular women. “Josie and Kathy would have been very well known locally and very well respected. Everyone is devastated. Josie has been a long-time supporter of the Wheelchair Association and has done tireless work for them over the years. “Both ladies were always helping people and would always put themselves out there if anybody was ever in need of a hand. “I believe Josie had collected Kathy in the car for a doctor’s appointment in Dublin. They left the car in the Hunterstown Inn car park and got the bus to Dublin. They returned from Dublin at around 6:30 on See Page 2
