Local man Conor Hughes is well-known for his zany escapades on Blackrock beach on St Stephen’s Day, but this yearhe just may have stumbled across an idea that helps bring about world peace. The Christmas season in Blackrock wouldn’t be complete without a Conor Hughes fundraiser on the beach on St Stephen’s Day morning and the good news is all systems are go for this year’s renewal which will aim to solve the ongoing wars around the world by putting on a religious Olympics . Council get ready for freezing temperatures By Paul Byrne Louth County Council is ready for the onset of sub zero temperatures having recently received delivery of two new 26 tonne winter gritting trucks which are fitted with the latest technology spreading a mixture of salt and brine thereby making the most efficient use of rocksalt. The trucks have a load capacity of 13.5 tonnes each and will operate on the North and South Louth County Routes and covering a combined total distance of 268Km of National and Regional roads each night.
