Deal edges closer on Oriel Park lease issue

Progress has been made in the long running dispute between Dundalk FC, Gerry Matthews and Louth County Council regarding the club gaining ownership of the lease for Oriel Park, but the club insists that the matter is not yet fully resolved. A short statement released by the club yesterday morning criticised the leaking of confidential information and stated that they would not be making anymore comment on the matter until the matter is fully resolved although they did confirm that progress had been made. “Dundalk Football Club can confirm that progress has been made with resolving all of our long-standing issues relating to the lease of Oriel Park. However, until all arrangements are complete,

we are not in a position to give a full and detailed statement on this matter. We are very disappointed that a confidential document was irresponsibly issued in our name without our consent or knowledge this morning. We understand that this has created a demand for information but we need to proceed with care at this time. We will make a full statement when this process is fully complete.” read the statement. Now that the club have agreed a deal with Gerry Matthews it seems that the only remaining issue that needs to be resolved is to negotiate an agreement with Louth County Council regarding accumulated levies and rates which are tied to the Youth Development Centre.
