THERE was great success for Dundalk kickboxers last weekend as three World Champions were crowned at the WAKO World Championships which were held in the Citywest Arena in Tallaght. Ten year old Ryan Delduca, 14 year old Eadaoin McCrave and 18 year old Sarah O’Brien all returned home with gold medals around their necks to cap off a memorable weekend for the local kickboxing scene. Ryan Delduca from the Dundalk Martial Arts School of Fitness entered the ‘Younger cadets Boys Hard Style Weapons’ category and demonstrated perfect technique as he blew away the opposition to claim a coveted gold medal in front of family and friends in the packed out
Citywest arena. Ryan’s coach Monique Martin was understandably delighted with her young student’s performance and praised him for his hard work and dedication. “We are all absolutely thrilled for Ryan. He has worked so hard to prepare for these championships and he’s got his reward with the gold medal. We went up to Tallaght hopeful of a spot on the podium but a gold medal is beyond our wildest dreams,” stated Ryan’s proud coach. There were also celebrations in the McCrave household as 14 year old Eadaoin built on her European bronze last year in Spain to come out on top of the older cadet 1315 year old -60kg division. Eadaoin travels to Tallaght martial arts in Dublin to train three days a week See Page 10
