Assault accused is refused bail

A Blackrock man who was accused of stabbing a 93-year-old neighbour was refused bail when he appeared at Dublin District Court on Monday. James Reilly (30) of Gort Na Glaise in Blackrock, is charged with seriously assaulting the 93-year-old man at his home in Blackrock on August 10. The defendant also faces charges in relation to handling a stolen pub. lic services card and an iPhone case on the same date. The court was told by Gda Michael Rochford that at around 3pm on Saturday the pensioner
was in his garden in Blackrock when he was approached by a man whom he didn’t know. Gda Rochford stated that after a brief exchange of words the pensioner was attacked, and it is alleged that the victim was stabbed three times in the abdomen and once in the hand. The 93-year-old managed to get to the back door of the house where he and his wife prevented the accused man from gaining entry.
