Gardaí are treating an incident in Muirhevnamór as attempted murder after a man was rushed to hospital from smoke inhalation over the weekend. Dundalk Gardaí are investigating after a man suffered serious injuries following a house fire at Drive One Muirhevnamor. The man in his 60s was upstairs in his house at around 10:50pm on Saturday evening when he heard a loud bang at the front door. When he went to investigate there was a large fire at his front door. He then ran upstairs and secured himself in an upstairs bedroom before calling the fire brigade for help. Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly afterwards and rescued the man who had collapsed on his landing. He was immediately brought to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda where he was treated for smoke inhalation. Gardai believe that the fire was started Continued on Page 2
