DUNDALK will be well represented at this summer’s Paralympics with two locals making the trip to Rio to represent their country. Tom Badun will take his place in the Irish soccer team for the games while local cyclist Eve McCrystal will act as a pilot for Katie-George Dunleavy both in the velodrome and on the road as the in form pair travel to Rio with genuine medal hopes. Nineteen-year-old Tom from Tom Bellew Avenue in Dundalk is looking forward to his very first Paralympic games which he calls the ‘biggest event of his life’. Collette reaches 400 By Paul Byrne COLLETTE O’Hagan reached another special milestone in her extraordinary long distance running career as she completed her 400th marathon in Duleek over the weekend. The 66 year old from Bay Estate came to marathon running relatively late completing her first marathon in Dublin in 1990 aged 40. However, there has been no stopping her in the intervening 26 years as she has averaged an incredible 15 marathons a year since then including the big five of London, Boston, New York, Chicago and Berlin.
