Dundalk is set to benefit from a new initiative which aims to attract multi-national companies to the region. Foreign direct investment will be targeted as part of a new cross border initiative which highlights the enormous advantages of the M1 corridor. The M1 East Coast Corridor connects Ireland’s two largest cities, Dublin and Belfast, with the two largest towns, Dundalk and Drogheda at its centre. The Minister for
Planning, Housing and Local Government Eoghan Murphy TD launched the M1 Corridor Project in Bellingham Castle, on Monday morning amid much fanfare. The Project is a business-led initiative driven by local business groups, led by Dundalk Chamber, Drogheda & District Chamber, and The Mill Enterprise Hub and Oriel Hub Enterprise Centre. Louth nurses back to work after strike called off
Louth nurses have returned to work after a proposed three day strike was suspended on Monday evening following an intervention by the Labour Court. The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation announced that the three day strike would not be going ahead following progress at their latest meeting with government officials. In a statement, the union said: “The INMO’s elected Executive Council have just received the recommendation by the Labour Court. They have suspended the upcoming strikes at the request of the Court to consider Shona McManus president Drogheda Chamber Commerce, Paddy the wide-ranging recMalone Dundalk Chamber Commerce, Pat McCormack president Dundalk ommendations.
