Ardee man TJ Duffy remains in a critical condition in the Beaumont hospital following an attack in Carrickmacross in the early hours of Saturday morning. DKIT student TJ was out with friends when he was attacked on Main Street Carrickmacross close to the Fiddlers nightclub where he had been socialising that evening. TJ was lying unconscious on the ground where he was found by a passer-by who immediately informed the Gardaí. The 21 year old was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda initially before being transferred to Beaumont hospital in Dublin due to the severity of his
head injuries. It has been reported that he had a clot in his brain and he was put into an induced coma. TJ, a barman in the Louth Arms in Tallnstown, lives in Churchtown just outside Ardee is a hugely popular figure around the area and along with his twin brother Emmet is a key player in the Sean McDermotts GAA football side. Gerry Corbally, a member of the Sean McDermotts said everybody in the area is praying and hoping for a full recovery. “It was a big shock to us all out here when we heard about the extent of TJ’s injury.
