Residents in Knockbridge are underseige from youths in the area who are congregating in the village centre and engaging in antisocial behaviour according to local councillor Tomás Sharkey. The Sinn Fein councillor who lives in Knockbridge was speaking in the aftermath of an assault in the village where a man received facial wounds after being attacked by what is reported to be a gang of youths. The man who is in his 40’s was followed after he left a licensed-premises at approximately 10:45pm and confronted by the youths before being attacked with a
knife. He presented himself to hospital and later reported the incident to the Gardaí. He is believed to have received nonlife threatening injuries. According to Cllr Sharkey this is just the latest in a long string of incidents which have occurred in the village in recent years. “Unfortunately, Knockbridge has been the victim of a sustained spell of antisocial behaviour in recent years. There are families being intimidated in their own homes and there is a gang of youths hanging around the centre of the village taking drugs and they are out of control". “This latest incident has seen a situation where a Continued on Page 2
