Tragic death of player after final THE euphoria of a Senior Championship victory turned to grief for St Patrick’s GFC as one of their players died tragically just a day after playing in the County Final. Eamon Carroll from Bellurgan, played a leading role as his club defeated Dreadnots by two points in Drogheda on Sunday, but in the early hours of Tuesday morning he was struck by a car while walking at Rockmarshal on the Dundalk/Carlingford Road at 1.20am. The 33-year-old was a very popular figure and talented footballer from a highly-respected family. He was dedicated to his football and helped the Lordship club to win six titles in the last 12 seasons, while he also represented Louth at senior level. See page 22
