The people of Dundalk have responded with typical generosity to the challenges facing the homeless after giving overwhelming support to the Simon Community Appeal. The stormy conditions that met the volunteers on their annual ‘Sleep-out for Simon’ highlighted perfectly the difficulties faced by those who are homeless, particularly at this time of the year. The third annual ‘Sleepout for Simon’ took place in Market Square last Friday night as hardy volunteers braved the worst that Storm Desmond could throw at them as they raised both funds and awareness for Dundalk Simon Community. Civic Reception for Dundalk FC By Paul Byrne It may be a case of ‘better late than never’ for Dundalk FC after Louth County Council confirmed that the club’s magnificent double winning team will receive a civic reception in 2016 but it is still unknown when exactly it will take place.
