A concerned Marian Park resident has urged the council to erect a fence to stop drug users gathering beside homes in the estate after a five-year-old girl found a black box containing used syringes. Drug users have been a constant scourge for the Marian Park residents over a number of years but for one resident matters were brought to a head last week when his five-year-old granddaughter came home holding a black box containing three used syringes. The resident who doesn’t wish to be named said he got the shock of his life when he realised what his granddaughter had brought

home. “She thought she had found an old mobile phone or something like that and she was delighted with herself. When she handed the black box to me I didn’t know what she was giving to me. I opened it up and there were three used syringes with blood stains on them and I got an awful shock. “I asked her where she found the box and she told me so I went down to where she got it and found loads more used needles in the area”, explained the shocked grandfather. “We have had issues with drugs around here for a long time now and people in my estate are scared stiff of these people who have taken over Continued on Page 21
