The frustration felt by many people in Dundalk in relation to the introduction of water charges is on the rise given the number of protests being organised in town over the past week. In a reflection of the mood across the country, many locals have come out to voice their anger at the latest charge being imposed by the Government. Residents from O’Hanlon Park and Hillview were the latest community to protest against the installation of water meters last Thursday morning. More good news for Women’s Aid By Paul Byrne Just months after their very existence was threatened the Women’s Aid refuge amazing recovery continued this week with the news that they are recruiting a dedicated child protection social worker. According to Lisa Marmion, manager of Women’s Aid, the latest development could never have happened without the generosity and hard work of all the staff in the Spirit Store who organised a hugely successful gig on June 1st headlined by Glen Hansard.
