Scouts take on the ulitmate adventure TWO Dundalk Scouts are displaying their determination, fitness and survival skills by coming through a gruelling Explorer Belt 200km challenge in Germany. Conor Murphy, from Kilcurry, and Daniel McKeever, from Castle Park, undertook the ten-day challenge which saw them walk 200km on a budget of €6 a day, while keeping a detailed log book and completing six projects, and all this while carrying your personal gear, tentage and cooking equipment. The two scouts are members of the Dundalk Rover Crew, which is the oldest age section in 1st/2nd/5th Louth Scout Group which is based on the Castletown Road. Fire destroys Oxfam shop By Paul Byrne

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the cause of a fire which resulted in major damage to the Oxfam shop in Clanbrassil St in the early hours of Thursday morning. A fire broke out in the shop about 3am on Thursday which led to two units of the Dundalk Fire service attending the scene. A man who lived above the shop managed to escape from the building unharmed. The fire services spent approximately an hour and a half at the scene as they battled the blaze in the early hours. Breon Timmons the district retail manager for Oxfam See Page 21
