A life-saving piece of equipment was removed from the harbour in Carlingford on Sunday, June 4 and dumped at the junction of the Carlingford/Greenore roads. Sinn Fein Councillor for the Dundalk/ Carlingford area, Antoin Watters, told the Dundalk Leader that the removal of the lifebuoy was “a senseless act”. “The lifebuoy was discovered between 8pm and 9pm on Sunday last by a passerby. Thanks to the fast actions of the Community Alert we got it back and had it checked and cleared by gardai,” said Antoin. Continued on Page 2

Man charged over Bridge Street murder

A 26-year-old man has been charged in connection with the fatal assault of 62-year-old Catherine Henry at her home in Bridge Street, Dundalk on the 24th May. Luke Donnelly of no fixed abode appeared before a special sitting of Dundalk District Court last Friday evening. He had previously been arrested theday before on suspicion of murder after Gardaí had launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a body in Bridge Street. Catherine Henry, a Dublin native, had been working as a volunteer at the Dundalk Soup Kitchen. Luke Donnelly was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
