Residents of Woodland Park will celebrate the festive period in their refurbished homes after being given the news that they will return to the site in time for Christmas. Almost a year on from their controversial eviction from the site and following a spend of almost €700,000 on upgrading the area, members of the Travelling Community will begin the process of moving into the refurbished Woodland Park from next Monday. In January Louth County Council removed 23 families from the halting site as it was not considered safe. Residents who had

moved onto the former halting site, were evicted after inspections identified issues in relation to fire safety and sanitary regulations. Over the last number of months the council have received funding to refurbish the site which will cost in the region of €681,000 when completed. Two weeks ago an arson attack in Woodland Park threatened to delay the commencement of families moving back into the refurbished site but on Monday Louth County Council released a statement confirming that they will begin the process of accommodating families from Monday December 12.
