The quality of Dundalk’s drinking water has once again been called into question after concerns were raised about the extent of pollution in the Fane River. Cllr Maeve Yore spoke out about the ongoing issue of pollution on the Fane River while also questioning why fish stock levels were down in the river during last week’s Louth County Council monthly meeting. Cllr Yore tabled a motion which asked Louth County Council to ‘carry out an inspection on Fane River from waterworks at Cavan Hill to ascertain what is causing brown effluent discharge into Fane River and why is there eels in the water and fish stock Continued on Page 13
Dundalk book place in Cup Final

Dundalk’s relentless quest for silverware continued on Friday night as they saw off Longford to book a place in November’s FAI Cup final in the Aviva stadium. Although not at their stylish best the Lilywhites comfortably eased past their midland opponents without ever getting out of first gear. This is Dundalk’s first FAI Cup final since 2002 when they beat Stephen Kenny’s hotly fancied Bohemians side in Tolka Park. And with the league title looking all but certain to be retained by the Lilywhites a first double since 1988 is also on the cards. Full Story on Page 11.
